{yawn} Good Jolly Monday morning, dear friends … {yawn}. Jolly, Joyful and I are all tired this morning … we had a busy family housecleaning day yesterday and we’d all have liked to sleep a few extra hours. {yawn} Meaning, we’re not cooking this morning, but Jolly picked up some coffee and donuts, so grab a snack and let’s try to find humour to start off the week on the right foot (unless, of course, you’re left-footed).
Uh-oh … Gwammie fell ‘sleep again, so … here’s some cute pictures we found to share wid you …
{yawn} I’m awake, I’m awake! Jolly, please turn that blasted t.v. down … I can’t hear myself think! Oh, hi again friends! I see Jolly shared some cute pics with you, so how about some funny signs next?
And now, I think it’s time for some ‘toons, don’t you?
And, for the grand finale … a cute/funny animal video!!!
Well, friends, let’s put our best foot forward as we bravely head out the door to see what this week has in store for us, shall we? It’s important that with all the chaos and uncertainty in our lives these days, we maintain two things: our sense of humour and our humanity. If you find yourself in need of a laugh mid-week, come on back for a visit … the door is always open and we’re always happy to see you. And if you need a boost and some inspiration for the humanitarian side of things, stop by on Wednesday when we do our weekly ‘good people’ feature! And friends … please be sure to share those smiles … there is always a basketful of them by the door if you need to grab a few to spread around! Keep safe and have a great week ahead! Love ‘n hugs from Filosofa, Jolly & Joyful!

Found you Jill!…again……I think I might have sorted this issue out now (Unfollow- follow).
Another stellar collection of cartoons.
I loved the bagpipe/accordion one; in addition to the funny line, that dry factual style of art adds another layer of humour.
And of course there’s Earl and Opal 👍

Whew … I hope it works this time! You shouldn’t really have to go to so much trouble just to read my posts! Pete is still having problems, too. Glad you enjoyed the ‘toons! Yeah … heh heh … I always love it when I find a cartoon about bagpipes, since daughter Chris plays in the Cincinnati Caledonian Pipes & Drums Corp! Thankfully, she plays the drums, not the pipes, but she is trying to learn the pipes too, and I have to turn my hearing aids off when she practices!

Bagpipes are very stirring in the hands and lips of someone versed in the art…otherwise…
Let’s just say I’ve read a couple of very funny parts of books dealing with young Englishmen trying to learn ‘the pipes’

I think I just don’t like the sound of bagpipes, whether played skillfully or poorly. When I said that to Chris, she said, “Well, they are an instrument of war, so …” Yeah, makes sense, I guess.

It is a curious dynamic of British culture that a lot of folk irrespective of which nation do love a Scottish lament.
No one can sing hymns like The Welsh, but the Scots hold all the cards when it comes to laments and bagpipes do add to the theme:
‘Flowers of the Forest’ being a classic case- commonly played during the return of military dead from Iraq or Afghanistan.

Mournful! Yes, that’s the word I was looking for and it came to mind just as I read your last sentence … they are mournful, rather like a cow mourning its lost calf! I will say there is one song that I almost like on the pipes: Danny Boy. My daughter’s band refuses to play it, for some reason … go figure!

Yeah- head scratching time for me too. They probably got their own reasons

Wow … I never saw so much conflicting tales and confusion over a song’s origins! And the Catholic church said it can’t be played at mass, but it’s fine for funerals? Scratching my head over that one. I can’t believe how many people covered this one! I remember a couple of them … I didn’t know Paul Robeson had, and I love the depth of his voice, so I went for a listen but after about 20 seconds I had to turn it off … that one is NOT his forte! Thanks, Roger … that was a fun bit of music history!

Yeah it’s something of ‘a standard’; isn’t it?
Not a favourite of mine in any form. It didn’t strike a chord with me as a lad when first heard on the radio. Things haven’t changed since.
That’s music for you.

What a grand collection with which to start the week! I especially like all of them, but the jury toon really made me laugh-I was once a trial bailiff (among other work I did for judges.) I didn’t call people dirtbag like Marsha Warfield on “Night Court”; instead I was in charge of keeping the jurors together, in and out of the courtroom during trials, making sure the court’s rules were followed, and such. This toon reminded me of one jury, several of whom smoked, who’d been listening to very dry testimony in regard to how river flooding occurs, for well over the 2 hours they usually had between recesses. We had squeaky wooden chairs in the courtroom. So, as they each began to fidget, I swear by any/everything that those jurors squeaked out the first line of the “Chili’s Baby Back Ribs” commercial, and did it several times! I had such a hard time keeping from smiling, and it was Not my place to call on them to sit still.
Thanks again, Jill!

I’m so glad you enjoyed today’s (well, yesterday’s now — I got lazy about answering comments last night) humour! Oh!!! I used to LOVE “Night Court”!!! I had no idea you had a courtroom career! And that story about the squeaking chairs made me laugh! We smokers do tend to get antsy when we need a smoke! 😉

I once saw a sign that said Clearance: $3.99, was $1.99..what a bah-gain that must have been.

Yeah, that was a good one! Took me a minute to get it, but then I’m a bit slow these days. Jolly had to ‘splain it to me! 🤣 Glad you found some humour to start your week, my friend!

Not a visit … she and granddaughter Natasha live with me … or I live with them. It’ll just be nice to have her home for 3 days! I’m sure we will enjoy it, even if we don’t leave the house!

a wonderful collection of smiles. but a brilliant doggie called tofu? does he have to be a vegan or vegetarian? he deserves a name fitting his gorgeous looks and kind heart 🙂

Believe it or not, we once had a cat named Tofu! It came about quite by accident (the name, not the cat) and he was neither vegan nor vegetarian, but like Tofu the dog in the video, he had the kindest heart … he had only 3 legs, but he was still my hero! I’m glad you enjoyed Jolly Monday, Kiki, and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

Coffee always helps, but after several fairly sleepless nights, there is only so much the coffee can do! I’m so glad you enjoyed the pics and came to visit Jolly Monday! Have a great week ahead, dear friend!

Jill, I was liking the toddler’s smile over the eateb watermelon as my favorite, until I saw the guy sleeping in the elephants caressing trunk. Love it. Keith

I don’t typically include human kids in the cute pics, not for any reason in particular but I just like the animals best, but that picture of the kid and the watermelon … that smile was just so contagious that I couldn’t resist. And yes … the elephant and the man curled up together was the best of the lot in my book! I’m glad you enjoyed Jolly Monday, and I hope you have a good week ahead!

Great funnies, and lovely animal photos. (Especially the Sloth)
My dog Ollie always brings toys to us when we come home, and to anyone who calls at the house. (Including the Post-Lady)
Best wishes, Pete.
