Good morning, dear friends! If you’re in the U.S., today is one of those Monday holidays … Labour Day … which is intended to honour workers around the nation. Unfortunately, many people think it’s an opportunity to set off loud fireworks from Friday night through late Monday night, keeping old people, babies, cats & dogs stressed. Wherever you are, I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend, despite the heat!
I don’t know what Joyful has been cooking up, for she wouldn’t let me even have a peek, but she’s been in the kitchen all morning, so let’s go see what’s on the table, grab a snack, then get down to the business of finding some humour to start our week out right!
Joyful thought we should start with some music puns, but Jolly wanted to start with animal memes, so to settle the argument, we’re starting with some funny signs!
So, now that they have stopped arguing … on to some animal memes!
And next the music puns …
And now … let’s have some ‘toons!!!
And finally, your favourite feature, a funny or cute critter video. I snagged today’s from Sally Cronin over at Smorgasbord Blog (shhhhh … don’t tell her) and it is very short but oh so funny!!! Enjoy …
Well, folks, that time went by all too fast, didn’t it? But take heart … there’s another Monday right around the corner and we’ll do it all again! I hope you found some fun things to start your week off with a smile, and if you did, then I hope you share that smile with others this week! Keep safe (and cool) and have a good week ahead! Love ‘n hugs from Filosofa, Jolly ‘n Joyful!!!

I hope all who are able to observe it have a happy labor day and to everyone else, a happy Monday.
We’re still settling into our new home and I’m happy to say that, at least today, I feel a bit more confident navigating the open concept second floor.
It’s weird living in a house where all the bedrooms are on the first floor and everything else it above.
I could sure go for some of that coffee and pumpkin pie though, hadn’t had coffee in almost a week. I’m still nervous to carry a cup on this level for fear of spilling it all over the place, or worse, trying to walk with the cup in one hand while I use the other to guide myself and maybe I forget the steps are there and take a tumble.
I’ve been told that I don’t fall with grace but I land with it so it probably wouldn’t be too bad anyway, like the time I fell in the empty pool.

Oh Scott!!! That sounds so scary! But, I know that in time you’ll have it all mapped out in your mind and be able to navigate the house just like you did the old one. Still … be careful, okay? I don’t like thinking of you falling down a flight of stairs! You … fell in an empty pool? Did you break anything? I hope you guys settle in happily and that you’re able to sell your old house quickly and for a profit.

I forgot I was going to mention that we in Canada celebrate Labour Day too, and I remembered when on another blog I read sbout Labir Day being an American holiday. So I turned this into a joke. A bad joke, assuredly, but a joke just the same:
It might be Labor Day in the USA, but in Canada it is Labour Day. We put the “u” in labor! Or at least we “used” to… Groan!

s not an official holiday n our countries, whereas it is a popular holiday in many natons around the world. Britain celebrates their Labour Day the first Monday in May.
Labor Day was first celebrated in the USA in1882, made an official holiday by President Grover Cleveland.
It Canada workers started going on wildcat strikes in 1872, Labour Day became an official holiday in Canada in 1894.

Same to you. I don’t notice any difference here. My days don’t change unless we go to the city, and that is exhausting the older we get. Till later…

The only difference here is that Chris was home today, so we had some quality family time that I very much enjoyed! Plus, I didn’t have to feed the critters or water the flowers this morning, ’cause Chris did it for me! The day felt like Sunday all day, though, so now I’ll probably be confused all week!

Have a great holiday, Jill. It is too much to have fireworks going for four days. That is crazy! However, fireworks are an issue here too on particular holidays.

You too, Erika! I understand the colourful, eye-catching fireworks that make very little noise, but I’ll never understand what appeal there is in standing for hours lighting firecracker after firecracker just to make noise and annoy people. Sigh.

I hear you! Those crackers are the worst. Only noisy and don’t make any sense.

Jill, good assortment. I chuckled at the sign hiring experienced wait staff, yet experience was not required. Sir, can you spell waiter? Good, you are hired. Keith

Yes, that one made me laugh, too! I once worked for a manufacturing company and was told by the plant manager to hire “anyone who is breathing”.

I have to say that, after 68 years I think unquestionably I hold humor above all other personality characteristics. All of the closest and most endearing relationships I have are with some of the funniest people I’ve ever met. My wife and I enjoy an evening with our friends where we basically laugh the entire evening….they are my fondest memories…

I cannot imagine living in a world without humour, a world where we couldn’t laugh at our own antics! I place humour only behind integrity and compassion on my list of requisites!

Video: A big Dane would have put its paw on the little one’s neck and held it down … haha … But the clever ones always get the better of the blindly obedient, don’t they, which makes them rich.

Indeed, he would have! But I think these two were caught off guard and weren’t expecting the little guy to have so much chutzpah! Ahhhh … and yes, a lesson for us humans as well … how many times have we sat silently, scratching our heads, wondering how the heck that happened?

I liked that one, too! I had no idea it was by a British ‘toonist. And after this post had already gone live, I realized I had forgotten to put the Pickles ‘toons I had on it! Sorry … next week for sure! Have a great week, dear Roger!

The holiday was wonderful … Chris was off work and we all stayed in our jammies all day, doing whatever we wanted! For me, that meant a day of mostly reading and catnapping! Thank you for the lovely flowers 😊
