Our friend Keith is optimistic that it’s “all over but the crying” for Donald Trump’s political career, and naturally I hope he’s right. His reasoning makes perfectly good sense to me. Thing is, though, that it seems like ‘good sense’ has left the minds of many people in this nation and the seedier, nastier, more disgusting people are elevated on the platform when they should instead be relegated to the annals of history. I like Keith’s way of thinking, though, and what he says has much merit. Some of you may have already seen Keith’s post, but I wanted to share it today because his words are both important and encouraging, plus he has added several addendums to the post that you may not have seen. Thank you, Keith, for your wise perspective!

The crying will never end.

‘Never’ is a very long time. Eventually, it will … I’m just not sure when.

The older I get, the more I think we should never underestimate the ignorance (whether willful and/or gullible), of a third or more of the American people. It’s going to take a huge turnout of Democratic and clear-eyed independent voters (especially in swing states) in 2024 to overcome not only the GOP vote, but the obstacles and barriers Trump and far right politicians have been putting in place to hold down the Democratic vote.
Nonetheless, I still hold on to hope because a second Trump presidency unthinkable in every way (except that it’s possible).

Indeed, we should start now in our quest to convince people how very important their vote is next November. Voter apathy in this nation is beyond belief … in the average election, only about half of the eligible voters even bother to cast a ballot. 2024 is a critical turning point and we need the people to get off their arses and VOTE!!!! Yes, I am still hopeful, and perhaps I’m a cockeyed optimist, but I don’t see how Trump can still be on the ballot once convicted of his many charges. But … strange things happen where he is concerned …

Dr. No became a billionaire megalomaniac selling quano. Sales, the most important thing. Step one complete, we are talking about guano not shit. Next we need to motivate people to come to our shitshow 14 months from now and buy our shit instead of the poisonous stuff being hawked by our competitors (not our “enemies”) On that glorious day we shall sail our ship into the future of endless possibility not be sounding the clarion call for all hands to rush to the hold to patch the gigantic hole resulting from their corrosive dung. I would not push the need for all to come to the dark, smelly and toxic pit. Accuracy of the situation will not motivate the most if the view from the deck is bright sunshine and a closer access to the water.

How poetic!!! I especially liked “sounding the clarion call for all hands to rush to the hold to patch the gigantic hole resulting from their corrosive dung.” You do have a way with words. But isn’t guano pretty much exactly what Trump is selling … and profiting greatly!

Jill, as always, many thanks for the reblog. After posting this, I did see one more revelation this morning on the classified documents case. Apparently, there is a recording of his attorney cautioning the former president months before that if he did not comply with the subpoena, his home would be raided. His home, of course, was raided. Why this matters is any other former official who finds himself or herself with classified documents cooperates to return them. Trump had to be subpoenaed and then ignored it. Keith

Even now, he seems to think he is somehow ‘special’, above the law that applies to all the rest of us. I can’t wait until he is shown the reality that he is not any better or more privileged than anyone else in the eyes of the law. Sigh.

Jill, Rudy says Trump is angry that Peter Navarro was convicted. So? He is always angry when people may think less of him when others are caught and punished. Mind you, he does not care about Navarro (or any others who have been convicted on his behalf), just how it makes him look. He is right – it makes Trump look more culpable. Keith

So I heard. But then … when isn’t Trump angry about one thing or another? No, he doesn’t care about Navarro, not does he care about Rudy. He got what he needed/wanted from them and now they are tossed aside like fast food wrappers … unless they are charged or convicted … then he still won’t help them with their legal bills, but he’ll rage a bit on his grievance platform, Truth Social, and then toss them back out like so much rubbish.
