Given all the challenges facing us today, one would think our elected officials would be working overtime to find viable solutions to real problems, but instead they are preening in front of the cameras and spewing trash talk that gets them even more time in front of the camera. Their campaigns for re-election next year seem to take precedence over today’s imperative business. Our friend Keith has written an open letter to all politicians, asking them to put aside their shenanigans, their half-baked radical ideas, and get serious about the business at hand. I applaud his words, plan to send his letter to a few members of Congress who I think need a wake up call, and hold onto a thread of hope that at least a few will actually listen. Thank you, Keith, for your always wise thoughts and words!

Thank you for sharing!!.. while it is a good thing that Keith did, and more of us should, unfortunately, though it is not possible, the real destination of the letters should be to the people that support the politicians that represent them… they are the ones that will determine how the politician thinks to save his/her job…. 🙂
But do keep writing, none the less..as they say “nothing ventured is nothing gained”… and he might just have an impact!.. 🙂
Hope you are having a wonderful day today, and every day, life is all that you wish for it to be and until we meet again…
May the sun shine all day long
Everything go right, nothing go wrong
May those you love bring love back to you
And may all the wishes you wish come true
May your troubles be less
Your blessings be more
And nothing but happiness
Come through your door
(Irish Saying)

Thanks, Dutch! I think that perhaps BOTH are necessary … writing to our elected officials to let them know that we are watching, are informed, and are not pleased, that we expect better, AND communicating with the people, making sure they are aware of what the people they elected are doing so hopefully they will make wiser choices next time. But alas … neither group are very good listeners, it seems. Thank you, Dutch, and I hope you are having a great November so far!

As always Keith has the right of it. But maybe it’s the current campigns for re-election , instead of the serious business of running the Country which will in the end coost them their elections? Mayhap ther people are ready to extract a price for all the self appointed liesure time the politicins have awarded themselves at tyhe expense of good governance. Huge Hugs

I just don’t know anymore, David. Yes, their campaigns, their lack of attention to doing their jobs, and more should doom them next year, but … will it? It seems that Republican voters really don’t care one whit about good governance, about democracy, about our standing with our allies … they just seem to like the entertainment of screeching politicos telling them what they want to hear. Sigh.

Jill, many thanks for the shout out and repost. I think most Americans are beyond past tired of politicians who spend more time trying to get on TV or keep their jobs than doing their jobs. As one retiring Congressman said, he spent at least 1/3 of his time raising money across the street cold-calling people off a list of possible donors. Maybe we should cut their pay by 1/3. Keith

I agree with all you say, but I would cut their salaries by more than 1/3, for from what I’ve seen, they aren’t putting in even a 20-hour work week … and by ‘work’ I mean legislating, not campaigning!

Will hop to Keith’s in a minute. Just wanted to ask: did you get my card from Paris?

I DID!!! Thank you so much! I mentioned it in your post when I commented last night. Your card brought a big smile to my face!

Stable, yes. Better? Not really. However, the cardioversion is back in the plan … just have to take some extra blood thinners for a month to ensure no clots. I’ll keep you posted.
