Lions & Tigers & Bears & Republicans… OH MY!!!

Daughter Chris, trying to use up some of her PTO (paid time off), has taken Thursday and Friday off this week, so all day yesterday felt like Saturday, even though it was only Thursday!  And next weekend will be all discombobulated, for she’s taking off on Wednesday and will also be off Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.  We’ll be sharing Thanksgiving again this year with our good friends and neighbors, Ali, Maha, and their four children (two of whom are actually adults now), so I’ll be buying a 24-pound turkey later today!  Holidays always mess with the schedule, though, and my internal clock gets out of sync and I never know what day it is!   Anyway, holidays or not, life goes on and the political cartoonists keep churning them out, so let’s take a look at some of the best ones from this past week.

  1. Hi. Jill, you mentioned to have a 24 pound turkey. Do you always have turkey? See Ron bought a turkey breast and a ham today. I love ham so much he is going to have it tonight instead of on Thanksgiving Day. We no longer buy full size turkeys, as we end up with leftovers we can not eat up before we throw the rest out. Yes in the old days when we had large gatherings for the holidays we would have both and more, but before Covid we had gotten to where we just went out to eat for the holiday meal. Since Covid we just make a small meal for us at home. Oh and one of my favorite snacks on holidays is warm deviled eggs, do you have a favorite holiday snack food? Hugs. Scottie

    • Well, we will be sharing the holiday meal, as we do every year, with our friends/neighbors, the al-Dabbaghs, so that means I’m cooking for 9 people, hence the 24-pound turkey! We do love turkey … the real thing, not that pressed lunchmeat you find in the stores … so it’s a treat to fix one on the holidays. The house smells wonderful all day, then at the end of the day, we have a yummy meal! Since I’m not much of a pork or beef eater, turkey is my best option. But yours and Ron’s Thanksgiving meal sounds good, too! Mmmmm … warm deviled eggs … yummy! I guess cranberry-orange bread would be my favourite holiday snack food, or cheese ball ‘n crackers! Whatever you have, I wish you and Ron both a very Happy Thanksgiving!!! It’s WHO you spend it with, not what you eat! Hugs

  2. Jill, for the longest time, the news on Justice Clarence Thomas was he was the “silent justice” asking by far the fewest questions of the attorneys petitioning for he Supreme Court. Maybe, just maybe, he long knew beforehand how he was going to vote thinking of ways he would he spend his “donations.”

I actually did not think it would be Thomas who broke SCOTUS’ reputation having survived claims of his sexual misconduct when vetted. Others have contributed to the mess that is now SCOTUS, but he is the poster justice for it.

As for the person with self-diagnosed H-UGE brain, he seems to have a H-UGE problem remembering when he served as president as well as what he did when there. Plus, he seems to have a H-UGE problem knowing how government and tariffs work.

    • That’s my thought … he didn’t need to ask questions, for he had already decided his vote and taken his reward.

If I had made a guess, I would have thought it would be Kavanaugh who would break the Court, but actually Kavanaugh has voted in ways I agree with a few times! Thomas and Alitao have almost never voted in the way I would have.

That person you refer to with the {choke, cough} YUGE brain, is among the least knowledgeable people I have ever known of. He actually takes ‘stupid’ to a whole new level! But, as is the case with egomaniacs, he cannot see himself as anything less than perfect. Sigh.
