Filosofa’s Letter To Santa

Dear Santa,

I almost didn’t write to you this year, for there is nothing I need or want.  Well, a new can opener, but I’ve asked the girls to get me that, so no need for you to worry about it.  But then, I started thinking and there are some things I would like to ask of you this Christmas, though not only for myself, but for … many, if not all of the people on this Planet Earth.

You see, we have lost sight of some things, no longer seem to remember what’s really important, as that thing called ‘money’ has infiltrated our minds and skewed our values.  It may be beyond your ability, but here is my ‘wishlist’ for this Christmas …

  • Please plant a seed of kindness into the hearts of those who have more than they need, so that they will share their wealth with those who are struggling just to survive.  If only they would share a portion of their wealth, there would be no more homeless people or people going to bed hungry.
  • Please plant a seed of compassion into the minds of those who seem to believe that one skin colour, religion, gender, or other superficial criteria is somehow superior to others. Bigotry is running rampant around the globe and people are dying every day as a result.
  • Please, if you will, find homes for all the homeless animals who only want to be loved – nothing more.
  • Please, Santa, if it’s in your power, find a way to bring peace and understanding to the leaders of nations like Israel, Russia, and China whose wars are causing death and destruction every minute of every day.
  • Please take the fossil fuels that remain in the ground here on Earth back to the North Pole with you, then find a way to send them to some faraway galaxy. Fossil fuels are destroying the planet for most all life forms, but we humans just cannot seem to understand, so … just take them away, please.  We will find other ways to heat our homes and meet our other energy needs.
  • Please, Santa, when you drop down a chimney into a home with a gun or guns, remove and destroy those implements of death. Let everyone awaken on Christmas morn to find that they no longer have the means to take take lives with a simple pull of a trigger.
  • Please, if you bring nothing else in your sleigh this year, bring a sapling for every person on earth to plant … we need all the trees we can get after the devastation caused by wildfires and human destruction over the last decade.
  • Please bring love, care, food and shelter to everyone who is currently deprived of any of those things. Nothing else matters much if you don’t have those basics.
  • And one last request, Santa. Please bring consciences to every politician in every nation on the planet … so many of them seem to have sold theirs and are desperately in need of one in these trying times.

I realize, Santa, that I have asked for a lot, most of which may be beyond your ability to provide, but … all of this matters more, so much more than toys, books, electronics or fancy clothing.  We’ll be leaving you some special treats this Christmas Eve, as Miss Goose has become a master cookie-baker of late!  Have a safe journey and thank you for your consideration of my list.

Sincerely,

Filosofa

    • Thank you! I’ll add your name! I think most people wish for those same things, but the few who don’t are the ones who get all the attention in the media, just serving to make things seem even worse than they are.

  1. “Please, Santa, if it’s in your power, find a way to bring peace and understanding to the leaders of nations like Israel, Russia, and China whose wars are causing death and destruction every minute of every day.”

Israel is bad, yes agreed. Russia was lured into a war they didn’t want. China is not at war and in no conflict with anybody. But talking about death and destruction, you know who’s constantly at war, looting and pillaging all over the planet, causing death and destruction wholesale? Yes, m-hm, the fuxn United States of Ameirca, the most dangerous and aggressive country on Earth.

And USA is actively supporting the only real offender offender on your list!

    Accident? I don’t think so.

    • Sigh. How many times do we have the same argument, my friend? Russia wasn’t ‘lured’ into anything. Putin attacked Ukraine in hopes of starting a new empire and he cares not one whit for the lives — both Ukrainian and Russian — that have been lost. The U.S. is not without fault — I won’t pretend it is. However, we do not attack other nations and kill innocent citizens in a play for global power.

Hope you are feeling better these days and I wish you and your hubby a happy holiday season.

As I wrote in my last comment – that you so conveniently deleted – we don’t have an argument. I refuse to argue with poorly educated, highly biased and baaah 😦 patriotic people.

        “Russia wasn’t ‘lured’ into anything.”
9 years of permanent shelling of Donetsk and Lugansk + the avised offensive on both breakaway republics, Zelensky cheered on by Washington + the republics calling Moscow for help = that’s what people generally call a lure. Simple as that. According to international law the Russians didn’t just have any right but it was their duty to intervene.

“Putin attacked Ukraine in hopes of starting a new empire”
Do you have the slightest idea how silly and childish you sound right now? Girl, we’re not in kindergarten, and this planet of ours is no fairytale kingdom. Didn’t you listen to any of Putin’s, Lavrov’s, or Medwedew’s statements, did nobody tell you about the mission of the SMO? They had quite specific orders to not fuk with civilian infrastructure and services, and were happily welcomed as liberators everywhere.

I can’t even begin to fathom how anybody could so falsely interpret the Russian intervention as an invasion. One needs to be a special kind of meaniepooface/ill-informed toxic personality to even assume such nonsense. 😮

You really think the Russian’s went in with only 90k personnel, and only from the eastside, if they had planned an invasion? Now they are 1.2 mio, the biggest daddy on the planet … and still stopped at the border of Donbass. Waiting for a signal from the West. As they did since since many many years. Like “You wanna keep core Ukraine for yourself or shall we care about this dirthole?”

Again: The Russians didn’t fight for territory, but since you waited too long before even considering your defeat, they will now keep what they got: Donbass, Crimea, Melitopol, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odessa. All traditional Russian areas anyway, and since the West seems to give a fuk about Ukraine, nobody was willing to stop the liberation of those areas. Now look at the sad results of Mrs Nuland’s handiwork … and deal with it.

“However, we [indicating you identify with the USA] do not attack other nations and kill innocent citizens in a play for global power.”
I know, hun, I know … everybody knows. You have your client states do the dirty deeds for you. South Korea, South Vietnam, Kabul, Taiwan, Ukraine, Israel. So you can wash your hands once you pull out when your experiment didn’t work out so good.

“Hope you are feeling better these days and I wish you and your hubby a happy holiday season.”
        Thank you.
I never really felt bad, but even a bit better now. The pills seem to do me good. My left half is weak and of limited mobility. That won’t get much better but with regular visits to the gym I can maintain my recent state and hopefully stop my decay.

Merry Xmas to you and yours.

        • Fishing is the greatest sport for gear guys. There are literally thousands of lures alone. I don’t think “poor Mr Putin was lured into Ukraine” is the defense you think it is. I limit my fishing to one day a year because I’ve recently developed an aversion to killing. Following a bright shiny object to one’s demise does not feel like a wise decision. Happy holidays and a peaceful solstice.

Huh? What defense? I don’t have nothing to defend, just explainified how Russia came to the conclusion to “go in”, back in Feb 22. And with my very limited English skills I figured ‘lured’ was then right term to describe the West’s actions.
Could also have said they created a cul-de-sac, an inevitable course for Russia to go, or something in that sense. Ok?

You may stop now throwing fog grenades now but stay on topic for once. How often must I remind you lot that we’re not in kindergarten here?

“I’ve recently developed an aversion to killing”
Only recently? But good you’re a pacifist now. Welcome to the light side. You logically stopped supporting the US democratic party, and you’re rooting for Russia, do you?
