What Bounces In The Corridors Of Filosofa’s Mind?

Every now and then I get a case of what I call “mind bounce” where I have many, many ofttimes unrelated thoughts bouncing around in my head that clamour and compete for my attention.  It is at times like this that I find it helpful to let the thoughts have their say and put them into words … sometimes with no logical sequence that anyone can discern … let the mind run free, in other words.  Today is such a day, and here are a few of the thoughts vying for time inside my head …

Abortion/women’s rights should NOT be a political football.  LGBTQ rights should NOT be a political football.  Support for Ukraine in their defense against the Russian bear should NOT be a political football.  These are all human rights issues … game playing to gain political power using women, the LGBTQ community, and the people of Ukraine is simply WRONG!  It is not justifiable, not moral and certainly not humanitarian.  LIVES are at stake … you know, lives … people … ordinary, average people like the ones who put together your sandwich at McDonalds or build your car at the Ford Motor plant or stock the produce in your local grocery store.  We are humans, not some pawns on the bureaucratic chessboard!

Today, we have a Congress, state legislatures, state governors and attorneys general, not to mention federal and state courts who have decided to play god and decide who lives and who dies.  Remember Kate Cox down in Texas who nearly died because Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton decided she shouldn’t be allowed to have an abortion – even though her life was at risk and the fetus she was carrying was not viable?  WHO do these jerks think they are???

And most of this hatred in our government stems from the religious right who believe that women should be relegated to second class citizens, that LGBTQ people are criminals who don’t deserve to live, and that Ukrainians don’t matter because … well, because they aren’t white American Christians.  For those who have forgotten, religion and politics do not mix, it is a toxic … a lethal … combination.  There are many different religions in this nation, and a growing number of us are agnostics and atheists, so who died and left these assholes with their religious zeal boss over us all???

It seems to me that if one claims “immunity from crimes committed while in office” then that in and of itself is an admission that one has, in fact, committed such crimes. If the courts ultimately rule that Donald Trump has immunity from prosecution for his crimes, then I, too, have full immunity and so do you!  That means … there are NO laws or rules in our society, we can all do whatever suits us at any moment in time!  Why?  Because each and every one of us is special in our own way, so if Trump, America’s #1 asshole, is so special that he is deemed to be above the law by the courts, then so are we all!  Simple.  The courts will put themselves out of business, for nobody will ever again need a law interpreted or ruled on!

Ol’ Donny boy Trump says that immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country”.  I believe this was a quote directly from Herr Führer Hitler back in the day.  The only thing I see “poisoning” anything in this country is Trump and his goddam foolish faithful followers!  Interestingly, two of Donnie’s three legal wives were immigrants, so does that mean that Junior, Eric, Ivanka, and Barron are the poison that we should fear?

On another topic, a bit more fun … did you know that the Portland, Oregon airport has “therapy llamas”?  Yep, they are there to help relieve the stress of holiday travel. The Wednesday before Christmas, Beni and Prince tended to an emergency after a plane was delayed because of fog in Seattle.

One distressed woman threw her arms around the 15-year-old Beni and pressed her face into his shaggy brown coat, saying “Oh my god, I so need a therapy llama … I am so happy right now.”  For something to put a smile on your face, check out the article in WaPo!

Well, now you see how my mind can bounce all over the place!  Does yours ever do that?

  1. We were discussing attributes and drawbacks for wool socks on Christmas. Many suffer from skin irritation from wool and I wondered if lama wool caused similar effects.

  2. Yes, my mind does that, too. One of my friends told me she thinks my brain is very quick, considering how cluttered it seems to her. I thought cluttered is a good way to put it!

  3. Quite frankly, I am soooo sick and tired of reading about all the issues you mention in your post that I getting where I hate opening some of my “news-related” emails. If it isn’t the war, it’s the gender issues. If it isn’t something Trump said or did, it’s criticism of Biden. If it isn’t the corruption in the Supreme Court, it’s the lack of ethics and responsibility in the Republican-controlled House.

I know all these topics are what prompts folks to read “the news” — and we do need to keep abreast of things — but Geez-Louise! 😖

  4. Holiday gift #2:
Maine’s top election official on Dec. 28 removed President Trump from the state’s 2024 ballot. Secretary of State Shenna Bellows had earlier held a public hearing after three challenges to President Trump’s eligibility were submitted to her office.
    This is becoming trend!

    • There are some 20 states considering removing him from the ballot, probably waiting to see how Colorado & Maine fare in the Supreme Court. In truth, he does not qualify for the ballot anywhere in the country, but I suspect he will end up competing in all 50 states after all.

      • There is no doubt in my mind that Trump started that insurrection, and it was planned in advance. Clearly he wanted to overturn the election results by stirring up his followers via Twitter and Facebook. This is all documented and clear as day to anyone who isn’t biased.
I’m eagerly awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision.

  6. The politicians’, using these issues to boost their own chances of getting elected, are, no good, because, they’re, exploiting the lives of those who are, in a, lesser, position, and, using that, to, appease the, voters.

  7. “Support for Ukraine in their defense against the Russian bear should NOT be a political football.”

That topic particularly MUST be treated as a political problem! You wanna support Ukraine for feely touchy reasons, which is completely wrong. You don’t see that nobody in US govt believes in Ukraine anymore, and everybody tries to weasel out of their selfmade traps. All the politicians still pounding the wardrum are most probably military industrial lobbyists. They can’t care less if Ukraine survives half a year longer or not. As long as your taxdollars fill their coffers they be happy hippos.

For the WH/CIA/dept of state strategy falling apart now: Everybody with a little bit of historical knowledge could have told you already 1 or 2 months before the SMO that YOU DON’T WAKE A HIBERNATING BEAR! Same as you don’t just walk into Mordor.

We’re not dealing with a poor, weak USSR anymore but with an ultra-modern, up-to-date, rich Russian Federation with a highly motivated, properly trained and equipped military. And many many rich friends and allies in high places.

The drops Ukraine is sucked, go save yourself.

    • So … in your view, humanitarian reasons for supporting Ukraine are all wrong, thus humanitarianism is wrong? People … innocent civilians, women, old people like us, and children … are being killed. They are being left homeless without food, shelter, or even water. And … it’s wrong to support them? Sorry, my friend, but that’s where you and I differ.

      Liked by 2 people

      • No, we don’t differ about humanitarian help. All for it!

But why would I get emotionally invested in a lie? Yes the western narrative is a giant lie. I can make you a list … for the umpteenth time now but you’re either a hardcore American warmonger, a fascist, a pathological liar, a dupe or just a generally hateful person!
Obama. Trump and Biden telling you “Putin baaaad!”, so you believe it. The 3 biggest liars on Earth! And you fall for them. Becoz you want to believe it. You swallowed the bait, hook, line and sinker. 😐
        Ok, here goes again:

        1) 99.9% of all the actually very few civilian fatalities were done by Ukr troops and SBU – inside the Donbass.
        2) The victims have all been Russo-Ukrainians in Donetsk and Lugansk republics.
        3) Everywhere Russian army liberates a town or village they are welcomed as heroes.
        4) Rus military’s SMO didn’t invade Ukraine further than east bank Dniepro river, that’s where the Donbass ends. They are still there, didn’t venture out a single meter on the western side (apart from some commando operations).
        5) Russ military has strict marching orders to protect all civilian live and to not disrupt service deliveries (water, gas, electricity). Ukraine is still fully functional. Should still be. But Ukr often leaves scorched earth, as they’ve learned from their hero, Hitler’s troops.
        6) It was also Ukr military shelling the Zaporoshiye nuclear plant, so Russians had to power it down.
        7) Rus military adheres to the Geneva convention, treats all POWs with the utmost respect, gives them medical help, food and drink, warm clothes before processing their papers and sending them to prison/hospital.
        8) Ukr military shoots all POWs.
        9) Jill, you gotta see all the little info you get has went trough multiple filters already and presents a very very redacted version of the truth, if actually anything.
        10) There are hardly any western journalists deployed with Ukr troops on the ground in Ukr.

        • You appear to occupy a similar space as our MAGAts here in the homeland. You must have some sense of an impending loss. There is no longer a road to success for Russia or the MAGA. Greif will persist until acceptance is embraced.

          • LOLwut? Ok, waste of time, as always when talking to westerners, but just some hard truths for you to swallow or make what you will of them:

“occupy a similar space as our MAGA”
I’m a proud €uropean democratic socialist, never ever even get close to those people.

            “sense of an impending loss”
Indeed, for as a soon-to-be disabled pensioner from Germany I look at a bleak and poor future since my govt had wasted all those many billions to support an American puppet fascist regime. Money we’ll never ever get back and will never end up in Germany’s pension fund. Just squandered away. Makes me sad.

“There is no longer a road to success for Russia”
Russia’s SMO has achieved all goals as detailed in he mission statement. They are are the east banks of Dniepro river, the natural Donbass west border. It was never their intention to march any further.

            “or the MAGA.”
So wot? They are Americans too so fuk ’em. May they end up on the same fukit heap with the Dem neo-cons. All pulling on the same string, all getting fuked the same way.

“Greif will persist until acceptance is embraced.”
            Talking about grief?

        • You’ll judge who or what I am based on your own criteria. To me … I’m just a human who cares about all creatures, even other humans. But, let me correct you on something you said …

“Obama. Trump and Biden telling you “Putin baaaad!”, so you believe it.” Trump literally loved and fully supported Putin. And no, I don’t just take anybody’s word for it, not even Obama or Biden, both of whom I respect. I do my own research. Putin has made no secret of the fact that he very much hopes to “expand his empire”. Oh, and don’t you think it a bit odd how many people who disagreed with him have fallen out of windows to their death recently?

Sorry, Orca … your facts have “propaganda” written all over them.

          • “You’ll judge who or what I am based on your own criteria.”
On who else’s criteria would I judge you? Also I didn’t judge, just setting your warped mindset straight. With just facts.

“Trump literally loved and fully supported Putin.”
He never. Ever. Acknowledging another person in the same field as a worthy opponent, building up some rapport, doesn’t equal support. I know that’s a novel concept in American politics, talking eye to eye, among equals.

“Putin has made no secret of the fact that he very much hopes to “expand his empire”.”
Show me the quote and I’ll believe you.
As for now all we have to go by are Putin’s actions – which were all completely consistent with what he said and announced countless times before. To the finest detail. Russian troops are exactly were they are supposed to be at the end of the SMO, UKR military, cheered on by the West, is eating itself …

“don’t you think it a bit odd how many people who disagreed with him have fallen out of windows to their death recently?”
Not odd at all. Russians and vodka and open windows and airplanes and system criticism don’t go together well. Say Putin had some of the most notorious characters killed, well (I know one shouldn’t use such arguments and I’m a bit ashamed of it) Ameircans and other western govts are doing it all the time.
And contrary to America’s kills, the world is a better place without Putin’s enemies. Also I guess Putin is an altar boy compared to all his predecessors. And particularly to his successor. The western world doesn’t even begin to understand how much luck they had with Putin. For most Russians he’s much too soft and understanding.

“Sorry, Orca … your facts have “propaganda” written all over them.”
How? I’m German, child of the West and happy to be. I have a vast interest in Russia, historically, but never ever develoed much love for that country, neither the USSR. But look at the last 3 Rus presidents: Gorby was a cuddle toy, Yeltzin an unconscious alcoholic, Putin got Rus back in ship shape. Much to the chagrin of many western govts and businesses. And that is where the problem starts.
Don’t need any propaganda to find that out.

  8. My mind is a jungle. Maybe I should let it free, too? 🤗 thanks for sharing. I also think Trump is poison. His parents or grandparents were from Europe, weren’t they? Same like Hitler having a hate for Jewish people. It boggles the mind… 😔

    • I hear you, my friend! Sometimes it DOES help to just let your mind roam where it will for an hour or so. Trump is indeed poison, but those who support him are not only drinking the poison, but trying to force the rest of us to drink it as well. Not a good thing. Yes, his grandparents migrated here from Germany in 1885 at age 16. Yes, he hates not only Jewish people, but Black people, Hispanics, Asians … anyone who isn’t just like him.

  9. Constant bounce. Lurching through History. Trying to take all Cosmology in. Feral forays in Politics. Internal Theological Debate. Massive effort to steer the Mind-Ship on course through a book & potential blog posts. Oh yeah and there’s the day to day stuff too.

Politics is too transparent these days, no subtle nuances and agendas within agendas.
It is obvious a whole chunk of the UK Left only cares about ‘people’s welfare and rights’ if the USA and UK government happens to support the other side; otherwise….’Well, we might organise a double digit demonstration next month. Put it on the agenda, under the other twenty things to debate,’ Keep up the Sanctimonious Outrage- Korisne Budale one and all. The Conservative Government loves ya.
As for the US Right, just quit it you guys with the political doublespeak about ‘rights’ and ‘freedom’ and Liberrrrrrr-teee. You just want to back to those ‘good old days’ when only one group ie White Believers they have a handle on the Old and New Testaments of the Bible ran the show. Just cease pretending you care about anyone else, and ditch that over-privileged brat and I might just think ‘Yeah. Got where you are coming from,’ Your hypocrisy is too wide and obvious.
And you followers of this crew…..Geez Louise, are you guys or your children in for a rough time down the road.
    OK.

In a few weeks time they will fly to Canada while Emery studies for their Phd and Jim will find a new adventure out there.
