Last night was another {yawn} debate between Republican candidates for the presidency come November {yawn}. Earlier yesterday, Chris Christie announced that he is dropping out of the race (wisely, I think, though he was by far the better candidate), Asa Hutchinson and Vivek Ramaswamy are still in, but did not qualify for the debate. So, that left Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former Governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley. I tuned in for 15 minutes about mid-way through the debate, hosted by CNN, and it was a complete waste of 15 minutes. During that time, each was asked a few questions and neither of them actually answered the questions. The moderators tried to steer their responses back to the original question, but with no luck. DeSantis & Haley obviously came to the stage with an agenda and regardless of the questions asked, they were intent only on presenting their agenda and making jabs at each other. {YAWN}
I see that ol’ George Santos, who was expelled from Congress last month, is ‘begging voters for a second chance.’ This is the man who, as he left Congress for the last (hopefully) time on December 1st after his expulsion, said “To hell with this place.” And now, he wants to come back.
“Don’t count me out. I’ve given many people a second chance and I’m asking everybody to please give me a second chance. And I will, you know, come forward and prove to be worth your second chance. And I just want people to look at that and say, so many people make mistakes. We all make mistakes, if you really take a look deep inside, and I am sorry. And I look forward to continuing to be a voice for those who seek leadership in me.”
Have you guys noticed that there are an awful lot of whiny crybabies in the Republican Party? Just like their “chosen one” who whines and cries over the slightest insult! Perhaps it’s all they have, since they have no party platform, no integrity …
Speaking of ignorance among Republicans, Donald Trump made a claim at an event last weekend that even the dumbest have to laugh at. He blamed New York Attorney General Letitia James for Exxon relocating their headquarters from New York to Texas … which happened in 1989. Letitia James’ first foray into politics was in 2004 when she was first elected to the New York City Council. In 1989, Ms. James had just graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from Howard University School of Law and had just begun to practice law. Yo, Donnie! If you’re gonna lie and make shit up, at least make it semi-believable!
Well, that’s enough for one day … I’ll save the rest of my snark for another day. Go forth and have a good afternoon, try not to think about anything serious for at least two hours!

Almost synonymous, aren’t they?

The best thing about all of this horror is the chipmunk with its bellilaugh…. I REALLY cannot feel bad enough for you – every day a new low line, every day new fake news, lies uttered, fake facts, it‘s splitting one‘s brain.

I couldn’t resist the little laughing guy — glad you enjoyed him, too! Thanks, Kiki … yes, it is stressful and depressing, with no end really in sight. Writing about it is my outlet for some of the stress, and having good friends like you helps, too!

A complete clown show last night thanks to Ron DeSantis, he is competing with Trump as to who can tell the most and biggest lies. . Though he hadn’t the courage to actually mention Trump.
I was sorry Christie had to drop out, the only tell it like it is candidate and we needed him just for that reason.

I think we have not heard the last from Chris Christie … he can still, even though he’s no longer a candidate, be a voice to counter Trump’s lies, to be the “anti-Trump”. And that he can do without spending millions of dollars and without having to worry about offending the wrong crowd! So, it may turn out to be all for the best.

That’s true and I think he will continue to speak I hope he has a platform to do so. I have been skeptical of Christie since the Bridge debacle but have renewed respect for his courage and insightfulness.

Christie has made some lousy choices, such as Bridgegate and throwing his lot in with Trump for a time, but he’s learned, I think, and I trust him and Asa Hutchinson more than any of the rest of the ‘candidates’ on the GOP side.

I agree with you. I’m am glad Christie is speaking up. I think he truly cares about our democracy

I think he does, too! I only wish more in his party did …

His party is trying to destroy democracy. Only a few have managed to have the courage to stand up to Trump.

Very few, and those who found their courage have paid a hefty price, like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. I’ve never before seen an entire political party quake in fear of their ‘leader’ … but then I’ve never seen a political leader who was a twice-impeached ex-president with 91 criminal charges hanging over his head. A lot of ‘firsts’ here!

It’s our population… what’s wrong with half of them. Some whackos believe Trump is god( seriously). It’s mind blowing

I know … it is mind-blowing and disgusting! Did you see his latest ad with an eerie voice proclaiming that God chose Trump? And rather than be offended as they should be by it, his base will love it. Sigh.

I just can’t believe these Republicans, self righteous hypocrites. They don’t care that he’s a criminal, a rapist, an insurrectionist a fascist white supremest, of course that’s what they really like about him.

There seems to be a high incidence of ignorance in this country today. People don’t see what’s in front of their eyes, they have forgotten (or never learned) the lessons of history, and therefore are bound to repeat them. Let us hope that intelligence and common sense wins the day in November!

I gave this a ‘like’ purely because of the cute koala, who seems smart enough not to run for president.

A mistake is an error resulting in an unwanted or unintended outcome. Every “mistake” Santos made was deliberate deceit (except for “being born,” which — as much as I appreciate rawgod’s comment — was his (Santos) parents “mistake,” at least for New York and America).

Exactly, mm. A mistake is unintentional, and what Santos did was fully knowing that he was lying through his teeth. Some people, like Santos’ parents and Trump’s parents, should never have bred, for they produced a sub-species that is destructive.

Jill, George Santos should not waste his time or money. Plus, he may be in jail anyway. DeSantis has been wasting his time and money for a few months. Of course, Birther promoter Trump is saying Haley is not a citizen. Maybe he will blame this on Hillary Clinton like he did when he dropped the Obama Birther issue which he failed miserably at. Keith

I would bet that he’s not wasting his own money and the value of his time is the wasting of a thimble full of ocean.😉

Oh, I’m sure you’re right, for I doubt he has any to waste! He is, after all, unemployed!

Agreed, although now that he’s unemployed, he seems to have plenty of time on his hands and perhaps he misses that $14,500 monthly stipend. The people of New York have better sense than to even try sending him back, though … he’s “one and done.” Oh, no doubt he’ll blame somebody … like Donald Trump, he can never accept blame for his own mistakes/lies. A different breed, they are.

George Santos? Mistakes? His first, and BIGGEST mistake was being born. It’s been all downhill from there. ?

Original sin? It is possible that the costs for the damage George caused could be out weighted by patching some of the holes he reveled. Just seeing the disfunction in the organization that gave him the boot reveles the porosity of the fence.

Ha ha … yes, and I’ve said the same about Donald Trump! If his parents were alive today, I’d file a class action suit to sue them for giving birth to him!
