While I am no fan of Nikki Haley’s conservative ideology, I applaud and admire her tenacity to stay in the race against the former Liar-in-Chief. Haley is, I believe, a woman of conscience who at the very least values the laws and people of this nation, unlike her rival. It is currently unlikely that Ms. Haley can walk away with the Republican nomination, but … she should still give Trump a run for his money because … any number of things can still happen. Trump could yet be disqualified in a number of states, he could be convicted of crimes that could make his candidacy illegal, he could suffer mental and/or physical health issues that would render him no longer a viable candidate. If any of those things happen, Nikki Haley would stand a good chance of being the Republican nominee. Our friend Keith wrote a letter to Nikki Haley urging her to stay in the race, to keep fighting the good fight, and I thought his letter and commentary needed to be shared.

Something else to think about. Who can Biden beat more easily? Trump has turned off a good bit of independents and some “normal” republicans. But Haley could maintain some of those people over Biden.
But I love to see trumpy really lose it and go commando nutso to the point he needs a straight jacket and injections.

Logically, he should be able to beat either one of the quite easily. But, logic has left the room. Realistically, I think the answer depends on what happens in the next 9 months. If Trump is convicted of most of his crimes, I think he’ll lose a lot of support, even among Republicans. Nikki Haley has the same strike against her that Hillary had — she’s a woman. Just as this nation is still overall very much a racist nation, it is also a male-dominated one in which too many people do not believe a woman is mentally, physically, or emotionally capable of doing the job. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr …

Being happy a racist airhead is running against Trump is beyond comprehension. Haley would be as bad a President as Trump, just in different ways. Being Governor of a racist state does not bode well for a nation trying to lead the modern world. It would be the final nail in America’s coffin.

I would never want her as president, but here’s the thing … she doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance to actually win the election. Meanwhile, though, she is siphoning votes away from Trump and THAT is a good thing. Yes, she is a racist and raised my hackles when she said she would support a federal anti-abortion law on day #1, but she is more sane than Trump and if she can take even 5% of Republican votes away from him, it sends a message.

She can’t win because she is an airhead, or she can’t win because she is a woman?
Trump cannot win. Haley mignt.

She’s definitely NOT an airhead, but … she is a racist … which, of course, is what some in the south and especially in the Republican Party crave. And part of the reason she can’t win is … sigh … because she’s a woman. Mind you, I do NOT want her as president for numerous reasons, but it galls me that far too many in this country, even women, don’t think a woman is qualified to do the job. What … do they think having a penis somehow makes one smarter??? Hillary Clinton was one of the most intelligent, well-qualified candidates for president in recent history, and she DID win the vote of the people, but not by enough to carry it to the Oval Office. Had she been a man, I believe she would have had a landslide. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr …

To say Haley is not an airhead means you get different newsclips than we do here in Csnada, or at least in Alberta. All I see is her acting like a stereptypical blonde, despite the fact she is not blond, and despite the factnot all blobds are airheads.

I don’t go by the news clips as much as by what she has accomplished. She is intelligent, but perhaps she’s trying to hide it these days in hopes of becoming Trump’s VP pick.

Bad advertising, hiding intelligence. She convinced me she had none.

She’s intelligent, but she hides it well since she went to work for Trump back during his reign.

I don’t trust her. Let it stand at that.

Interesting point, Jill. I was thinking she should drop off as it seems pointless. But hanging in there may pay off for the reasons that you stated. Here’s hoping!

Oh yes … her staying in the race is definitely a plus! If nothing else, she’s siphoning some votes away from Trump, and that is making him furious! I hope she stays in for at least the next two months! We can watch the fiasco and laugh!

I truly hope she realizes the very REAL possibilities of Trump being ineligible to run via the many and several legal cases — and that this will motivate her to continue in the race no matter what. Of course her chances of actually winning the presidency are slim to none, but wouldn’t it be a nice BLOW to Trump if she got the nomination???

Yes, her chances of winning are slim-to-none, but as long as she is in the race, she is pulling votes away from Trump and annoying the hell out of him! That, in and of itself, makes her candidacy worthwhile! And yes, I would LOVE to see her get the nomination! Could happen if the wheels of justice can actually turn instead of stagnating!

Being more of a cynic than most of you,and having seen her confusion(?) about the reason for the civil war, and knowing she has backed Trump in the past, I can’t help but wonder if she knows she will lose the nomination and will therefore turn round and get behind Trump again with her backers, before the big day. Hugs

Well, you already know I’m a cynic, but … one thing, if nothing else, keeps me hoping that Nikki stays in the race and that is that she is pulling votes away from Trump and it is annoying the hell out of him! That, in itself, makes her candidacy worthwhile. And make no mistake … Ms. Haley knows exactly what caused the Civil War, but … shhhhh … we must not say the word “slavery”, for that is taboo in the Republican Party. It might make people stop and think … ask questions … vote with a conscience … and we can’t have that, now can we? Sigh. Cwtch

Thanks Jill. Or, in Trump’s case, the most frightening questions to ask a Republican elected official could again recur. What are the two most frightening questions?
Do you know what you will have to defend next week or next month that Trump may have done or said?
Do you know that he may have already committed the sin, misdeed or crime you will have to defend when discovered?
This may sound like teasing, but each time I have brought it up something bad happens. I started asking that while he was president and within two weeks, we knew about his extortion call with the new Ukraine president. I said it later, then we saw him botch the pandemic response and more people died than should have. Then later he tried to squelch the mail in voting process and then later claim the election was stolen from him. And, it goes on.
A Trump biographer said he is at his most dangerous when something good happens, as he lets down his guard thinking he is invincible. The Ukraine extortion call came right after he put a lid on the Mueller report.

So true, my friend. I would certainly NOT want to be in a position of having to try to justify his words and actions! Some, however, seem not to be at all bothered by trading their integrity for his promises. I hear that the hypocritical Lindsey Graham threw Trump under the bus yesterday … but then, Lindsey is two-faced and a back-stabber, so he’ll probably be hugging him by tomorrow.

True that on Lindsey Graham. I think he was saving his hind end in Georgia as he also tried to influence the Secretary of State.
