Speaking of Taylor Swift …

My friend and long-time writing partner Jeff over at BrookingsLib has been on hiatus for quite some time now, but every now and then he posts and when he does, he makes up for lost time!  I’ve largely avoided the whole Taylor Swift issue, the maga crowd’s hysteria that I don’t understand at all, but I concur with Jeff’s take on it … read on!  Thank you, Jeff, for all that you do.

Note to Readers:  Our internet has been sketchy, down for 15 minutes, up for 30 seconds, etc., so if you don’t see as many posts from me this weekend, that’s the reason.  The company is coming on Monday to repair it, but meanwhile I have to play catch-as-catch-can, so I may not be able to answer all comments or post as much as usual.  Thank you for your patience.

  1. Thanks Jill! I hadn’t gotten a notice that you had reblogged this. So, as usual, you’re the best! I was debating whether to weigh in on the Taylor Swift thing. But I finally reached my limit of idiotic and ridiculous social media BS. Something had to be said. And, like clockwork, the Chiefs won the game and you can only imagine the crap the radical right was coming up with. It’s unreal, Jill. We’re in a completely bizarre and dangerous place right now. I’m beginning to doubt our education system in this country because it’s massively failing!
Take care, friend. Many, many thanks.

    • That’s one of the latest changes WordPerfect has made … the way reblogs are done and handled. There is one positive in that you can now schedule a reblog rather than having to do it in realtime, but that’s the only positive. Unfortunately, it no longer notifies the original blogger. I should have left you a comment to let you know … just wasn’t thinking. Every time WordPress “upgrades” something, they make it worse!!! And now, you cannot even get to communicate with an actual person (happiness engineer, as they’re called) but if you have a question or an issue, you will get a response from AI. Sheesh.

Yes, my friend, the crap coming from the Republican Party these days is truly unreal. They have no platform and their only goal is to destroy the Democrats and democracy and crown their chosen king on January 20th next year. They are loud, lying, obnoxious, and bigoted. I like to think the party may be on the verge of destroying itself from within, but I can’t be sure. After the border bill fiasco … surely there’s a price to pay for sacrificing everything to give Trump what he wants? You take care too, Jeff! So good to see you here!!! I’ve really missed you!

      • I totally agree with you about WordPress. They do one thing, and something else goes out the door. Our pal Greg, who is now trying to build a website for his new Photography project, is having nothing but problems. You can rarely, if ever, actually talk to a person. The thing is, when you do on those occasions, you can actually get good quality answers and help. Damn, so frustrating though.
Boy, you would think they pay a steep price for these last two years of complete and utter dysfunction and fealty to you know who. We cannot let them in charge of anything at this point. They have no clue, nor do they even care. It’s whatever their cult leader wants. Let’s stop calling them Republicans and just call it what it is: The Trump Party.
Missed you too, Jill! thanks again

        • Oh, I had forgotten that you told me a while back that Greg is working on a new photography project! I’ve owed him (and you) an email for ages now!

Sigh. They seem to believe that their future careers are so irrevocably tied to Trump that they must lick his boots AND his rear end in order to stay in his good graces. What they don’t realize is that they will ultimately have to make sacrifice after sacrifice to please him, and he’ll never be satisfied … it will never be enough. You’re right … they are NOT Republicans by the definition of the party of yore, but rather are members of the Trump Cult.

          • And this morning I wake up to the news that Putin’s main political rival is dead. I’m sure it was just natural causes! Not one peep from the MAGA boot lickers about it. It’s amazing how far that party has fallen. And, continue to fall. How about Trump trying to get his daughter-in-law to run the RNC? What could possibly go wrong? LOL

            • Navalny was seen on video just the day before, laughing and in good spirits. No, this was no ‘illness’ … this was Murder with a capital ‘M’. And it was ordered by none other than ol’ Vlad! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I was sick and damn tired of seeing Ronna McDaniel’s ugly mug, but I swear if I have to look at slutty Lara Trump’s face more than thrice, I will … I will throw up!

  2. I really know very little about Taylor Swift, but I like what I hear. Another aspect to the Right-Wing hatred of her is their misogyny and their desire to attack women who dare to be independent and powerful.

  3. Jill, as with Ron DeSantis picking on Disney, the GOP picking on Taylor Swift is an unwise decision. She has the power to move her fan base to support something whether one likes it or not. Next target – apple pie? Keith

  4. Like I commented to Jeff, I’d normally pull for the 49ers to win, ’cause I’m tired of seeing the Chiefs win, but this time, I want to see Kansas City, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift make Super Sunday the darkest day of MAGA’s life. GO, CHIEFS!!
