We Are Women … Hear Us Roar!

Lawmakers and even the courts in this nation are making a concerted effort to erase the rights women have fought to gain for over a century.  The right to make our own healthcare decisions such as an abortion, birth control, etc., is only the beginning, but a devastating beginning for sure.  What will come next?  I’ll leave that to your imagination.  Our good friend Annie shows us two things — the devastation that recent attempts to take away a woman’s right to an abortion is causing, including death, and also how at least one candidate for office in Alabama is working tirelessly to protect and restore women’s rights.  Thank you, Annie, for this timely and insightful post!

  1. Thank you for sharing!!.. “Life is a process of becoming… a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death.” (Anais Nin)… unfortunately there are elements of today’s societies, male and female (especially in the world of religion and faith based ideologies) who have chose their state, are closed minded and deny any change they feel is a threat to their way of thinking.. “When we begin to build walls of prejudice, hatred, pride, and self-indulgence around ourselves, we are more surely imprisoned than any prisoner behind concrete walls and iron bars.” (Mother Angelica)… 🙂

In history’s past, one could be a Columbus or Daniel Boone and if one did not like the environment, one could pack his/her bags and go somewhere more to their liking or could create their own world… in today’s world, they cannot do that so they are trying to create a world using the laws of the land… what they do not know is their efforts are doomed to failure because “Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past and present are certain to miss the future.” (John F. Kennedy).. 🙂

Hope all is well, life is all that you wish for it to be and until we meet again..
May the sun shine all day long
Everything go right, nothing go wrong
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May those you love bring love back to you
And may all the wishes you wish come true
    May your troubles be less
    Your blessings be more
    And nothing but happiness
    Come through your door
    (Irish Saying)

    • Thank you, Dutch! Always good to see you! I do love the Anais Nin quote — so very true. Yes, change is slow, sometimes taking multiple generations to evolve, but eventually it does evolve, usually for the better. It’s just so frustrating to see us moving backward, and wondering why. Thank you for the Irish Saying … it is spot on and beautiful, as always! Keep well and be content, my friend!

  2. Hi. I have two comments please. First as I replied to the thread above.

Can I ask why if birth control pills and abortion pills are being outlawed as against god’s wishes … well why is hard on pills for men such as Viagra and Cialis not banned for the same reasons? If God wanted those men to be able … they would be able, right.

But also is not just women the fundamentalist maga right are trying to deny equality and body rights to, they are trying desperately to wipe the entire LGBTQ+ out of public society. From attacks on any books in every library from schools to town public ones with LGBTQ+ characters or plots, to going so far as to ban rainbow stickers and pride flags anywhere from schools all the way to US embassies.

Then there is what they are trying to do to black / brown people. They are actively doing everything they can to not only roll back all civil rights improvements since the 1950s but they are passing laws outlawing all diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in any school at any level and even in private businesses. I keep asking what are these people afraid of with diversity, equity and inclusion. Why does it scare these people that women have rights and body autonomy? Why does it scare these people if black people have equality and are included in all levels of society? Why does it scare these people that LGBTQ+ people exist and have equality with them? I just don’t understand. It hurts my brain trying too. Hugs. Scottie

  3. Maybe female legislators should propose that all men must have vasectomies if they do not plan on procreating anymore or at all. Something intrusive like that would not sit well with men now would it? How dare you tell me what to do with my body they might retort? Keith

    • I actually suggested that a time or two, but I went a step further and said that all male babies should have them at birth! That one didn’t sit well with them, either. Yes, there is a definite hypocrisy there … the mentality that men are somehow mentally/emotionally/intellectually superior to women still lives on, even in this, the 21st century. Sigh.

          • Simple answer, my friend … because men are still the dominant force in this country and what they want, they get. I read an article yesterday about a guy accused of raping women on campus and he had no remorse, said it was his right and that the women probably wanted it anyway. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr … Such things as god and the bible are subject to interpretation, and most religions have interpreted them in favour of males. Hugs

            • Hi Jill. I admire your restraint. If I had read that article … well I wouldn’t have attacked my monitors or computers because I no longer can replace them as I once could. But I would have stormed, wrote a scathing post, and bent Ron’s ear until he begged me to give it a rest. Loves and hugs. Scottie

              • Thanks, Scottie! It isn’t easy sometimes to hold back on the rants, but I have learned not to punch my computer, for like you, I cannot afford to replace it! I didn’t rant about that because … what would it gain? I’ve ranted on the topic before, often in regards to Trump obviously assuming that women are playthings put on earth for his sole pleasure, but it does no good … everyone already knows that and the people who read my blog agree with me already. Why give myself another ulcer? Loves & hugs

        • Ha ha … if men had babies, had to go through pregnancy and childbirth and THEN be the ones to change the diapers, sit up with a colicky baby, then the human species would have died out long ago!

              • Well … I must admit that while I knew the female bit off the heads of their mates after mating, I never actually saw it for myself. Um … thanks, Richard.

Many moons ago, I worked at Honda in Marysville. I most always ate lunch, and sometimes went out after work, with the same group of co-workers. Occasionally one of them would tell a joke that I didn’t get, but sometimes after pondering it for a few days, I’d finally get it and then I told them about my enlightenment. At that point, one of them would make like an airplane flying over my head! So see, it’s not only your humour that I sometimes fail to get on the first try!
