It’s Saturday … a day to kick back and try to do something enjoyable, like read a book, play a game, take a nap! So, I have just a few short snippets de snark this afternoon, and then I shall pick up a book and probably take an unintentional nap after reading about 3 pages! You should do something fun and relaxing, too!
Trump attorney Todd Blanche, speaking about Trump’s election interference case:
“Spoiler alert: There’s nothing wrong with trying to influence this election. It’s called democracy.”
No, Mr. Blanche, that is NOT by any stretch of the imagination what we call democracy. Democracy is people having enough factual information to make informed choices at the ballot box, and everyone having access to that ballot box. Your client’s actions actually hid the facts from the voters so that they were not able to make informed choices. That is not democracy, it is fascism. I see now why Justice Merchan said you had lost your credibility with his court!
Y’know … the ‘outraged’ Republicans have batted the word ‘indoctrination’ about so much in their holier-than-thou supposedly moral outrage that my jaw dropped when I read the following:
“K-12 students are one step closer to getting some lessons from designated “patriotic” groups after Gov. Ron DeSantis signed off on allowing certain groups access to K-12 campuses.
Rep. Wyman Duggan’s bill (HB 1317) allows representatives of so-called “patriotic organizations” time to meet with students and distribute recruitment materials, with schools providing designated time for these groups to pitch their attendees.
The bill stipulates that these groups can use school buildings even after the instructional day is over, and stipulates that other groups don’t have the legal right to “equal time.” It also requires that schools set a time and date for the group to speak to students after “reasonable notice” was provided by one of these organizations.”
So, they find it outrageous that their children will be taught about slavery in the Old South, about the massacre of the Native Americans by the European settlers, about LGBTQ history and rights, but they can be indoctrinated by religious groups and others deemed to be ‘patriotic’ by conservative standards, and that’s fine. Somebody has their shoes on the wrong feet!!!
Margie Greene’s attempts to block aid to Ukraine, her criticisms of NATO, and her beliefs that the United States should withdraw from the alliance have drawn plaudits from TV hosts in Russia, The Daily Beast reported Friday.
“She believes that Americans should help Putin win. Yes, you heard that right. To help him win in Ukraine,” says host Evgeny Popov in one clip on Russian state television. It looks like former Representative Ken Buck was right on the money when he dubbed her “Moscow Marjorie.”

He is a monster. He says there is little danger from a moron that needs two shots to put down a goat and only brings a single round. He gave a little pause when I suggested her blood could be poisonous.

That Ace is my hero! A brave and wise dog! Yes, I’m almost certain her blood is toxic, so don’t let him bite her. Even today, she’s still defending what she did, saying it was “lawful and responsible”. I really want to slap her upside the head!!!

Jill, this cult-like party is truly on a self-destruct mission. When a group mindset is:
Trump has done nothing wrong
Trump won the 2020 election and it was stolen from him
Teaching the good, the bad and the ugly about our country is bad; we must teach a jingoistic message instead
We must retrench from the rest of the world
We must cut environmental regulations and ignore climate change as it is a hoax
Women must not use birth control and carry all pregnancies to delivery
there is something wrong. If people would pay attention to what these folks are truly saying, then they would run from them. Let’s start with what Republican Vice President Dick Cheney said about Donald Trump – Trump is a coward for telling lies to his public. He knows he lost and he lost big.
Of course, Trump has done many things wrong. He is the one to blame and it is time his spineless sycophants start calling him out on it. So says this independent and former member of both parties.

I know, my friend. It’s a shame that one party has to lie, cheat, and steal to convince people to vote for their candidate(s) and an even bigger shame that close to half the people in this country are willing, in fact eager, to accept those lies, being cheated on and stolen from. This situation has gotten out of hand and frankly I find it frightening and depressing. While 3-4 years ago, I thought the nation overall had learned a lesson and was willing to move on, to re-establish a functional government, to re-unify the nation, today I see that I was wrong.

Jill, you would think they had learned. I fault any vote for Trump, but at least could better understand the 2016 vote as too many just do not like Hillary. But, voting for Trump again in 2020 is just derelict in my mind. Keith

Definitely snark-worthy!
It’s stormy here; so far, so good, but who knows so I’m visiting earlier today. Anyway, I also want you to see a thing Ten Bears posted today: https://www.centraloregondaily.com/news/local/bend-guns-surrender-garden-tools/article_7ee4d35a-0438-11ef-95fb-bb4ab58bb76e.html

I hope your storms aren’t severe! I heard there were some tornados in your section of the country a day or two ago. Keep safe, my friend.
Thank you for sharing that with me! What a wonderful initiative and a great idea for recycling AND reducing the number of guns! I love it. If only everyone would voluntarily give up ALL their guns to be turned into garden tools … or cast iron cookware! Thanks again, Ali!

Greene should run for the governorship of Florida. Her and deSantis are peas in a pod. She could even wear his white boots…

And it would get her out of Congress where she obviously does not belong. Floriduh, meanwhile, deserves to see what the cnsequences are for its election choices.

No, she and at least 50 others have no business even using the congressional bathrooms, let alone having an office in the Capitol! Then again, neither does DeSantis belong in the Governor’s Mansion in Tallahassee.

Non-Republicans aside, Floridians and apparently South Dakotans seem to be living in an insane asylum. (Probably some other states too. I think you live in one of them, Jill.) The people really expect to be uplifted, but they are going to find out it will be the exact opposite if Trump and the GOP regain power. The love is not reciprocal!

This whole country seems to be living in an insane asylum, rg. One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest in real time! I live in a state that voted for Trump in both 2016 and 2020, but it also voted for Obama in both 2008 and 2012, and in 2022 voted to put an abortion protection measure on the ballot, so it’s more moderate than many that are called “red states”.

Don’t listen to her. Ohio is a hellscape, everyone is trying to get out! All she has to do is go to the top of a hill and gaze south across the river to the paradise known as Kentucky.😅

HAH!!! I lived in Florence, KY for a few years when I worked as Comptroller for Tri-State Healthcare Laundry owned by the city’s three major hospitals, so I’ll take Ohio over KY any day! If I had any choice, though, I’d probably opt for Northern California or Washington state.
