I know that some of you follow Pete, aka Beetleypete, here on WordPress, but some may not yet have discovered his treasure trove. Pete’s blog is widely varied, from fictional works to fun historic pictures, interesting inventions that never quite got off the ground, the musings of his mind, and much more. One of his recent features is “Classroom Lessons” and this week’s installment simply begs to be shared. Pete is in the UK, but his ‘lessons’ this week are very timely and apt for readers here in the U.S. or anywhere else in the world, for that matter. Take a look for yourself … Thanks, Pete!

Fine share Jill
Timely considering the stuff that is being spouted in ‘popular’ commentaries.

Exactly … lessons that need to be learned by those who think compassion and empathy are dirty words.

They only learn when Harsh Lessons come kicking their door down. If they are willing to learn enough it will simply be a personal drubbing at an election / legal process or watching someone they support get taken down in an irrefutable manner.
If they persist they best be prepared one way or another ‘Storm’s A’Comin’

Yep, and trouble with that is that storm will hurt us all.

We’ll know it’s a’comin’ though.

Maybe knowing it’s coming while being powerless to stop it is worse than not knowing ahead of time?

Well, there is the option of when a lot of folk starting wailing of saying ….’Toldja, Now will you (very bad word) listening and work with us here!’
Remember the story I told you about the guy who gets all those storm warning and offers for help but keeps on saying ‘No. I shall pray and all will be well’?
It applies for those who say ‘Nah. It’ll be fine,’ too

Okay … good point. You’re right … I was advocating for burying one’s head in the sand. Sigh. Yes, I well remember the story and … I see it everywhere I look today. I still take no comfort, however, in “seeing it coming”. I keep thinking I can stop it, but … no, I cannot stop it. Can anybody? Nobody who cares, apparently.

If ‘it’ happens, the first task is not to give way to despair, although this will be a ‘hard ask’.
The next challenge will be to build up resolve to see the business through. History both political and social within the USA indicates that no White privilege regime can hold onto complete and utter control for ever, if at all- ask African Americans on that score for one group- and the struggle still goes on.
After that the next and ever shifting question will be. ‘What Road of Opposition Do I Choose?’
These vary from
1. Seemingly public quiet acceptance, underscored by manifold almost imperceptible acts of resistance and opposition. These will depend on the person, their circumstances and region.
2. Along the path of public vocal or physical demonstrations which will also be variable and will depend upon how many causes or which one a person will feel they can handle.
3. Up the ladder to outright political opposition, which will vary from standing for a position in government / admin to supporting a person who does, or constantly questioning Government officials and representatives on actions they are party to be being taken. Again there are variables. This sort of action would also criss-cross with 1 & 2.
4. Finally for some there will be the extreme road which will take them into areas of petty vandalism to begin with and depending on their mindset, the far more dangerous outright physical force. This one I would not recommend, it leads to an equal kick-back and petty vandalism can accelerate to terrorism.
As for ‘Nobody’ I would go back to my 10% and 10% of the original 10% argument.
I’ve said it before and I will say it now. No matter what the extreme Right think, they are not ready for the consequences of their actions. They never are.
