It’s Time For … Another Jolly Monday!

Good Monday morn, dear friends … again already.  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are ready to face yet another week of political chaos and whatever life throws at you!  Joyful has gone to help out a friend in need this week, so it’s just me ‘n Jolly.  That means that instead of the great spread Joyful usually lays out for you, you’ll have to settle for store-bought cinnamon rolls ‘n donuts this morning!  Sorry, guys … Joyful should be back next week though, and I’m sure she’ll make up for it!  So, go grab a quick treat and let’s let our week begin with some humour, okay?

Shall we start with a few animal memes?  Those are always good for a chuckle …

And a few funny signs we’ve been collecting …

And now {drumroll} … on to the ‘toons!!!

Do we have time for just a few funny memes?

And finally, what would Jolly Monday be without a cute or funny animal video?  Jolly volunteered to find this one …

GREAT JOB, Jolly!  I loved this cute little squirrel!!!  Well, folks … it’s that time once again … time for us to bid you adieu until next week … same time, same place.  We hope you found some smiles, chuckles and maybe even a laugh or two here to sustain you through the week ahead.  One more thing I want to share with you before you go, though …

Keep safe and have a good week ahead, dear friends!  Love ‘n hugs from Filosofa, Jolly ‘n Joyful!!!

  1. Thank you so much, Jill! For me, the “Nut Job,” and the “IEC” machine. I do love the chalkboard at the end, too. Every time I think I need another bathroom (1 here,) I remember that 8 Haitian women could make a comfortable home for their families all while slapping the crap out of me for wanting another bathroom. It works! Thanks again!

    • Thank you, Ali!!! I’m so glad you found some humour and smiles here today! Yes, I debated about using that chalkboard/message board, for it’s not really humorous, but … I thought maybe it’s something we should all think about. Like you, I whine and moan about our house … no room for anything, old carpet … but then … I remind myself that we HAVE a home, it’s warm in the winter, we have plenty of healthy food, can pay our bills with some left over … we are SO lucky compared to so many. We’re only human, but sometimes we forget just how lucky we are compared to so many others. Have a good week ahead, my dear friend!

  2. Jill, there’s no way I can pick a favorite from this bunch! They are all winners and I haven’t stopped laughing yet. Of course the Golden Girls hit the spot and I remember the episode from the hundred times I’ve watched it. Dorothy’s deadpan face just always says it all, but at the same time I know that herring will die before too long. Also remember one about shooting a herring from a cannon. Rose was priceless.

The cat ones in the beginning will have to be saved for my daughter who has a sweatshirt her husband made for her last Christmas proclaiming her a “Crazy Cat Mama”! It also has photos of all the cats they have been owned by in their 33 years of marriage.

But that last video of the squirrel? Priceless. Reminds me of the raccoon I had when first married. My hubby found it beneath the tree it fell out of and brought it home to me. JoJo was a treasured pet for a couple of years before she went back to the wilds. She won my heart the night my mother-in-law was walking around with JoJo on her shoulder when the sweet little beastie answered the big call of Mother Nature on that shoulder. I wish I had a video of that, or of the day JoJo was napping on the back of Edd’s sleeping coon hound. No way I was going to imprison the little bandit though. She slept in the barn and visited the house at will.

    Thanks for the memory!

    • I am SO HAPPY to know that I’ve given you something to laugh about! All too often, I give you reason to growl ‘n scowl, so it’s good that I’ve brought a smile to your face today! Yep, love me some Golden Girls and I always thought of myself as being much like Dorothy!

I really hope your daughter enjoys the cat ‘toons!!! Wow! A shirt with all the kitties they’ve had in their family for 33 years!!! I don’t know as we could fit them all onto one shirt! Take a picture of it for me, next time you see her wearing it!

      I loved the squirrel, too!

OH MY!!! Now you’ve got me laughing at the vision of your Jojo doing his business on your mother-in-law’s shoulder!!! Would love to have seen the expression on her face!!! Good on you for giving Jojo his freedom, giving him a choice! Thanks for sharing that story with me … I love it!!!

      • Actually, JoJo was a female who returned to the hay loft to give birth to 2 litters before she disappeared for good. And I began to really admire my mom-in-law after that incident. She started laughing and wasn’t all that offended, but after having 12 kids I guess that wasn’t the first time she had something or someone do their business on her. Yikes! I just realized again that she had 12 kids! Only 8 survived and only the last 3 were born in a hospital. And only 4 went to high school, the 4 youngest. Edd was the second one to attend high school after an older sister and followed by his 2 younger sisters.

        • Oops … my bad … I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions! I guess I just thought that such rudeness must have come from a male! 🤣🤣 Good on your mother-in-law for having a sense of humour! Wow … sounds like she went through hell and back more than a few times.

          • She went through hell every time she had a baby with her husband getting drunk and beating her severely. I have a feeling that’s why the 4 babies died and why the rest of them have had so many problems with their memory and probable brain damage in a few. The 2 who were born in the hospital were normal but the rest were very slow learning and tended to be violent. At least when I told Edd that if he ever hit me or my kids he would be looking at the world through the bars on his jail cell. He believed me after he had his fist under my nose once and I dared him to follow through with the phone in my hand while dialing the first 2 numbers for 911. And that was 1 month after our wedding. I didn’t know anything about the abuse he grew up with until after the wedding or would never have taken the chance. But he did break the cycle of abuse when I let him know where he would be living if he ever tried to hit any of us.

    • Thank you, Keith! I’m so glad you found some smiles ‘n chuckles here! Yes, I know that last one isn’t funny, but I thought it was apt, something maybe we could all benefit from. Have a good week ahead, my friend.

    • 🤣🤣 Good question!!! I’m glad you enjoyed the humour, and also glad you liked the message board at the end. I know it isn’t ‘funny’, but I thought it was something we all needed to hear. I know I did! Have a good week ahead, my friend!

    • I’m so glad you enjoyed Jolly Monday this week! Jolly first found a wonderful video about a family of kookaburras that I really wanted to play, but it just wouldn’t play for some reason, so he found this squiggle video afterward! Yes, I thought maybe that message board was a bit too … serious for Jolly Monday, but I really thought it was too perfect to pass by. I’m going to print it and hang it somewhere that I’ll see it every day and be reminded. Cwtch

    • I’m so glad you had time to visit Jolly Monday and hopefully start the week out with a smile! Yes, I thought that last one should be printed out and hung somewhere in plain sight where I would see it every day! A timely reminder. I hope you have a good week ahead, dear friend! 🥰

      • This week we have to take the matriarch to the vets for a shaving. Diabola just does not groom herself the way she used to, nor will she let herself be groomed. Ever since the father of her kittens died, she seems to have let herself go. It wasn’t like she even liked him, he was a pain in the butt to her, but she loved him and defended him fiercely every time he got into a spat with one of the other cats — which was actually quite often because he was a pain in the butt to everyone but Gail. It was just over a year ago she last got shaved.
She used to care about her looks but no more.

        • That is so strange! Poor Diabola … she misses her tormentor and is apparently depressed! Have you spoken to a vet about it? So, do they shave all of her fur off? Do you and Gail brush her sometimes? 😿

          Liked by 1 person

          • She won’t let us brush her anymore. She used to love it. Now she is all teeth and claws.
The vet shaves everything but the head, the tail, and the boots. Last year she never even commented on it. Woke up like nothing had changed.
Gotta admit, we never thought of depression. She is 17 years old. We just put it down to old age. When Dakota turned 20, she slowed down on her grooming. But after she got shaved once, she took care of herself after that.

    • Obviously Earl has learned a few lessons for a more peaceful life, but sometimes he seems to forget them!

Yes, I debated about adding that message board, for it’s not really funny and Jolly Monday is supposed to be funny, but … it just seemed to relevant not to add. It certainly got me started thinking …

Have a great week ahead, dear friend!

      • After reading all the Jollies and we’re in a better mood, and more receptive, it’s a nice balance to remember those things we should be grateful for (even if the job is lousy, it’s money in the bank- which is the popular game in town)

        • I’m gwad our funnies put you in a better mood, Uncle Woger! We like to make you waff!

Yes, I whine and complain about my house, but … it’s a house, a roof over my head, I have plenty of healthy food, books to read, a family that loves me … it’s good to remind ourselves sometimes, isn’t it?
