I’ve complained quite a bit in the past year or two about the way the major media, specifically the New York Times and The Washington Post, have covered the upcoming election and the candidates. It seemed that if President Biden stuttered, as he has done all his life, the media would devote an entire column about his age and what they saw as his ineptitude, while giving Donald Trump a free pass when he couldn’t remember what city he was in or even who his opponent in the election was.
Needless to say, I’m pleased to see a couple of things in the New York Times in the last couple of days that give me hope that perhaps they have realized the error of their ways and are trying to make amends.
First … an excerpt from Robert Hubbell’s post yesterday …
The NYTimes is finally writing about Trump’s unhinged press conferences
The press conference at which Trump evaded the reporter’s question about Ukraine was billed as a press conference about immigration. But Trump grew bored of his prepared remarks on immigration and began a free-style jazz improvisation without the jazz. As described by the NYTimes (Gold and Haberman),
Mr. Trump quickly appeared to grow bored with the remarks he read from, and drifted repeatedly toward other topics. He talked about inflation, accused Ms. Harris of lying about working at McDonald’s years ago and nursed his fury over how the ABC News debate moderators handled his face-off with Ms. Harris nearly three weeks ago.
At the beginning of the news conference, Mr. Trump struggled at times to articulate his thoughts or make a point clearly. He stumbled over some words as he read from remarks he had plainly not written. He bootstrapped one thought onto another based on whether the words associated with something else, as opposed to having a clear through line. [¶¶]
The group of Trump employees and supporters gathered in the lobby along one of the barricades that penned in where Mr. Trump spoke appeared to grow restless, with some looking around, as Mr. Trump talked and talked.
See NYTimes, McDonald’s, Pelosi, Debate Moderators: Trump Speech on Border Veers Off Course.
In the past, the NYTimes reported such remarks as “meandering.” Now, the Times is accurately reporting that Trump is “struggl[ing] to articulate his thoughts.” When Joe Biden spoke with a lifelong stutter, the Times demanded that he withdraw from the presidential race. Now that the Times is acknowledging that Trump cannot think or speak in a logical or linear fashion, the Times is content to describe the sorry spectacle and shrug its shoulders.
But there’s more! In an article on Thursday, the New York Times Editorial Board published a piece detailing criticisms of Trump by 91 of his administration insiders, family & friends, as well as world leaders, Republican politicians, and conservative voices. According to The Times …
“The New York Times editorial board has made its case that Mr. Trump is unfit to lead. But the strongest case against him may come from his own people. For those Americans who are still tempted to return him to the presidency or to not vote in November, it is worth considering the assessment of Mr. Trump by those who have seen him up close.”
The article has pictures and quotes from each of the 91 people, making it impossible for me to copy here, but I strongly urge you to take a look for yourself!
Perhaps the media is finally waking up? Let’s hope it’s not too late and that they may actually reach some of the people who really need a wake-up call!

The New York Times and the Washington Post are the more liberal papers. The ones that lean much more conservative are The New York Post and The Washington Examiner. They constantly attack Harris and Biden.

The unfortunate thing is that the people who NEED to know about these gaffes and meanderings don’t read (or listen to) the sources that report them.

Nan, that is what I‘m saying since forever…. and that‘s sad and tragic and makes it near impossible to change ‚their‘ made-up minds. but also, how many of them CAN read, are able to listen, form their own thoughts?

Jill, my wife and I saw Biden on “The View” this week. He was articulate and in command of the issues. Yes, he had the occasional lapse, but he conveyed himself well. I told my wife Trump could not have had that conversation as he does not know the issues or history and has a hard time chaining coherent thoughts together. He would have changed the subject and started ranting at someone or some perceived slight.

I agree with you. The news can do better when comparing a former President to the current President. Some of them acutally go through Trump’s rambling and formulate “what he meant was …” Really? If that is what he meant, then why didn’t he say it? Even with a stutter, at least Biden said what he meant and you didn’t have to “explain” him. Some of my maga friends say, ‘It’s so funny when he says that stuff.” My thoughts are “I don’t want a comdeian running the country, I want someone who understands the issues and has a substantial plan on how to manage the issues.”
It’s time to take off the rose colored glasses and tell the world the Emperor has no clothes.

Faux and the Faux wanna’bes need be eliminated
I tend to give the mainstream outlets the benefit of the doubt, they are between a rock and hard place. The NAZI propaganda outlets though, Fox, Newsmax, all of those reicht-wind echo chamber pig-piles are traitors, actively engaging in inciting insurrection, their stated goal the overthrow of the United States of America. They need be taken out back of the barn and appropriately dealt with. Eliminated, not chased back into the woodwork, the fringe, eradicated
Examples need to be made …

Pingback: Is The ‘Trump Media’ Finally Learning? | Ned Hamson's Second Line View of the News
I wonder if this is coming out in time to save us from another possible disaster. Most people who are against Trump have been from the beginning, recognizing the lies and his need to be admired while doing nothing admirable to deserve it. I hope the ones still touting his “virtues” will wake up and smell the coffee burning before we all become toast!

It would be a, good thing, that, these, news agencies are, finally, noting what an, AWFUL human being Trump is, and now, at least, they, will now, report, what’s, closer to the, truth?

So quantum mechanics.🤔Red Blue Green everything you need for color. Hate Greed Fear all you need for human attention. Loving-kindness Generosity Wisdom are much harder to sell at light speed.😉I’m a salesman. I told you once what it is I sell. In my youth I was in a hurry and quickly learned that poison jumped off the shelves. In my old age it is just a hobby so I have time for antitoxins.😘Print news fell into the speed trap for sales. Since having (maybe) learned that they cannot compete with social media selling poison that wholesome is the way to go.🙏
Today was a great day with power out and nothing to do. Compared to yesterday’s perfect weather catching not a single fish yet filling up on 2000 oz of fresh caught trout.🤣Before you fall in love with me you must consider that I was OK with 165 fish dying.🥰
