Good People Doing Good Things — Random Acts of Kindness

I had started a ‘good people’ post about young people doing good things for others, for the environment, etc.  But, it seems that Covid may have found me again, for I am feeling quite unwell, with all the same symptoms as when I had Covid last month!  I really don’t know how, for I haven’t been out of the house in ten days, but … so be it.  So, I am taking it a bit easy — no choice, really — and sharing with you a video about random acts of kindness.  I’ve shared similar videos a couple of times earier this year, and you always seem to enjoy them, so I’m hoping you’ll enjoy this one, too.  I will probably not get to comments tonight, either, for I feel like all I want to do is go to bed and hopefully sleep.  Sorry, my friends!  And hopefully by next week I’ll be up to the more in-depth post I had planned for this week!  Oh, and be sure to have some tissues handy!

Little things mean so much!!!

  2. Great video, Jill. These are the things we need to keep up hopeful and positive. I’m sorry to hear that you are under the weather again. I hope it clears up for you soon.

    • Many thanks, Carla! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video … these always seem to lift my spirits just a bit. I’m sure I’ll be better in a few days … no clue what it is this time, but with the antibiotics I’m now taking, it should go away soon!

    • Thank you, Michael! I’m staying in … had my groceries delivered today … and just resting and drinking plenty of water. I’m a bit better today but definitely not ready to run any marathons! You stay safe, too, my friend. xx

    • Thank you, Ab! I could go to the doc, but I don’t want to just yet. If it gets any worse, or continues more than another day or two, I may have to. I’ll keep you posted — and thank you for caring, my friend.

    • Thanks, Stella! I’m glad you enjoyed it … these videos are always uplifting to me! It’s not in my nature to sit back and be kind to myself, but maybe I better start learning to! Thanks for caring, my friend! ❤

  4. Gosh, Jill. You have really been put through the wringer lately. It would be wild to go all this time and not get COVID and then get it twice in such close proximity. Did you ever feel back to 100% in between? I had a bit of a relapse the one time I got Covid, but it happened right away with only a day or two in between.

    • Whew … one round with Covid was enough. I’m not sure that’s what I have now, but the symptoms are very similar. No, I hadn’t gotten back to 100% yet, but my heart problems make everything take a bit longer. Hopefully this time it won’t keep me down for 2 full weeks!

  5. It’s not lack of good people it’s the ratio of bad ones that creates a problem in the first place.😘Take care of yourself as I endeavor to discover the magic set of keys to send my thoughts to oblivion.😂 At least I am not bothering you with tendanacious commentary. 😉tendanacious took ten times and I even spelled it right the first time.😢

                Oh yeah!

                Barbara Frietchie

                By John Greenleaf Whittier
                Up from the meadows rich with corn,
                Clear in the cool September morn,

                The clustered spires of Frederick stand
                Green-walled by the hills of Maryland.

                Round about them orchards sweep,
                Apple- and peach-tree fruited deep,

                Fair as a garden of the Lord
                To the eyes of the famished rebel horde,

                On that pleasant morn of the early fall
                When Lee marched over the mountain wall,—

                Over the mountains winding down,
                Horse and foot, into Frederick town.

                Forty flags with their silver stars,
                Forty flags with their crimson bars,

                Flapped in the morning wind: the sun
                Of noon looked down, and saw not one.

                Up rose old Barbara Frietchie then,
                Bowed with her fourscore years and ten;

                Bravest of all in Frederick town,
                She took up the flag the men hauled down;

                In her attic window the staff she set,
                To show that one heart was loyal yet.

                Up the street came the rebel tread,
                Stonewall Jackson riding ahead.

                Under his slouched hat left and right
                He glanced: the old flag met his sight.

                “Halt!”— the dust-brown ranks stood fast.
                “Fire!”— out blazed the rifle-blast.

                It shivered the window, pane and sash;
                It rent the banner with seam and gash.

                Quick, as it fell, from the broken staff
                Dame Barbara snatched the silken scarf;

                She leaned far out on the window-sill,
                And shook it forth with a royal will.

                “Shoot, if you must, this old gray head,
                But spare your country’s flag,” she said.

                A shade of sadness, a blush of shame,
                Over the face of the leader came;

                The nobler nature within him stirred
                To life at that woman’s deed and word:

                “Who touches a hair of yon gray head
                Dies like a dog! March on!” he said.

                All day long through Frederick street
                Sounded the tread of marching feet:

                All day long that free flag tost
                Over the heads of the rebel host.

                Ever its torn folds rose and fell
                On the loyal winds that loved it well;

                And through the hill-gaps sunset light
                Shone over it with a warm good-night.

                Barbara Frietchie’s work is o’er,
                And the Rebel rides on his raids no more.

                Honor to her! and let a tear
                Fall, for her sake, on Stonewall’s bier.

                Over Barbara Frietchie’s grave
                Flag of Freedom and Union, wave!

                Peace and order and beauty draw
                Round thy symbol of light and law;

                And ever the stars above look down
                On thy stars below in Frederick town!
                😀
