Beep beep … beep beep

Now where did I leave my darned phone?  Oh, there it is on the counter … beep beep … “Hello?  [long pause]  Hello?”

“Ms. Garcia?”

“Yes, this is she.”

“Ms. Garcia, this is your son Juan’s teacher at the elementary school.  I … I … something terrible has happened …”

My heart drops … an accident … a shooting …

“What has happened … please tell me!!!”

“Please try to be calm, Ms. Garcia.  There was a raid at the school today by Immigration & Customs Enforcement, or ICE, and … they took all the children who … who had last names that sounded foreign!  We tried to stop them, but we were told we would be arrested if we did not get out of their way.  I don’t know where they were taken, but they took six students from my classroom and many from other classrooms, too!  They even took two of our teachers, Mr. Avila and Ms. Sanchez!”

Words fail me … this can’t be happening!!!

“How can I find out where he is … and if he’s okay?”

“We are recommending calling both the Sheriff’s Department and the State Police to see what they know, and Principal Deering is on the phone to state legislators as we speak.  We will post anything we find out on the school’s website, and if you gain any information, please, please contact us.  Now I must go call the other parents.  I am so so sorry, Ms. Garcia!  We will speak again soon.”

I wish I could tell you that the above is entirely fictional, the product of an over-active mind, but it may well be the reality in the days to come, perhaps already is.

I have written about Ryan Walters a few times in the past1.  Walters is the Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Schools, and he has just put the lives of every school child in Oklahoma in grave danger.

Here is what Mr. Walters told Oklahoma journalist Brenna Rose yesterday:

“In Oklahoma, we’re gonna work with law enforcement, we are gonna work with the Trump administration. However President Trump decides to carry out the actions around his immigration policy, we’re gonna absolutely work with him on that. We’re gonna make sure that he has what he needs from us to carry those things out.”

“So you’re not completely ruling out a raid on an Oklahoma school?”  Ms. Rose asked pointedly.

“No, if that’s what President Trump sees fit, as there’s [an] illegal immigrant population there that needs to have enforcement to remove them from the schools, absolutely. We will work with him to make sure that he’s able to carry that out.”

In Hitler’s Germany, it was the Jewish people who had to fear for their lives; in Felon Trump’s “America” it is those with brown skin and a Hispanic name.  Until this week, there was a policy in place that prohibited two key federal immigration agencies — Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) — from carrying out immigration enforcement in schools, churches, or hospitals.  This week, the Felon administration reversed that policy, making the opening scenario a very real possibility in the near future.

    P.S. I wonder how many folks who voted for Trump will find themselves the target of these actions …

  8. So! The children of immigrants can be hauled out and sent away! tRump is actually one of then since his family originally came over from Ireland, I think. In face, almost everyone living in this country came from other places and stole the land from the Native Americans. To me that means everyone living here MUST be sent back to the original country of parental birth. But! I wonder if tRump will be welcomed back to his ancestral country?

    You are good with these stories, Jill. Keep it up and turn them into a book!

    • Yep, and there is no way to know whether those children are in this country legally or not … so they will just take ’em all and try to sort it out later. Can you imagine how that would affect a child for the rest of his/her life??? Trump’s father’s family came here from Germany. Their surname until the 1800s was actually Drumpf. His mother, I believe, was of Scottish descent. You make an excellent point, my friend. The only people who aren’t from immigrant stock are the Indigenous People — ‘white’ man came here, lied and cheated the Indigenous People, then committed genocide against them. What have they to be proud of???

And, this in, one of the, MOST, INHUMANE things, occurring, under, Emperor Trump’s, takeover of the, U.S. government, and, there’s, NOTHING that the people, CAN do, after all, it’s, the, majority of the voters, who had, elected the, PSYCHOPATH into, office, and, there will soon be, the, MASS GENOCIDE, the, “cleansing of the races”, one nation, under, Trump, and, there’s, nothing anyone can do about it! And sorry, I can’t give a, “kudo” to this, one…

    • Indeed, it all seems so very bleak right now, and this is only the beginning. I understand why you cannot give a ‘kudos’ to this one, my friend … I can’t either, but it had to be said, we must keep warning the people in hopes that at least a few are listening.
