Some of you who have been readers of Filosofa’s Word for a few years may remember that Jeff Marzick, aka Brookingslib of ‘On the Fence Voters’ fame, and I used to occasionally co-author a post, and even collaborated on a few multi-part series back in 2020. Although we remain friends, we haven’t worked together for some time, and Jeff rarely posts anymore — one of those situations where life (family, work, etc.) got in the way. But today, just a few short days before the most critical election of our lifetimes, Jeff returns with some words of wisdom that I just have to share! Thank you, Jeff — so good to see you here, and you certainly haven’t lost your touch!

Words Of Wisdom From ‘Cross The Big Pond
I’ve often said that sometimes our friends on the other side of the world can see our situation better than we can. It’s the old “Can’t see the forest for the trees” scenario where we are so deeply involved that we’re not always able to step back and see the bigger picture. As we rapidly approach this momentous election, the two sides are sharply and deeply divided and it seems we’re more interested in throwing darts than trying to talk about our differences. I turns out that two of my dearest friends, both from Wales in the UK, have been giving our situation a lot of thought and each has offered his views on this … mess. Roger and David are both very wise men and their thoughts are well worth reading and pondering. Thank you, Roger & David, for sharing your words of wisdom with us … now let’s hope someone hears them who needs to!
End of Days?
A Reminder That You Can’t Judge A Book …
I have a few bad habits … one is I occasionally look at someone and determine on the spur of the moment based on maybe their expression, or just their overall demeanor, that they must be a Trump supporter, or at the very least a Republican. It’s wrong, I know it’s wrong, but … my mind keeps doing it anyway. My friend Michael Seidel tells of a personal experience where he drew a conclusion and was proven wrong, wrong, wrong! I think it’s something we’ve all done to a greater or lesser extent at least a few times, but Michael’s experience shows us why we shouldn’t. Thanks, Michael, for sharing this one …
♫ Turning It Over To Clive Today! ♫
I’m really tired tonight and still have about 50 comments to respond to before I can climb those 15 stairs to my bed, so I’m gonna hand the music post for today over to our dear friend, Clive! He has quite an assortment here, from AC/DC to Lewis Capaldi to Bonnie Raitt! But the songs all have a common thread: The word “you” is in the title! Thank you, Clive, for this … eclectic compilation and for letting me share it tonight!
Of Like Minds …
As my tired mind struggled to come up with a post for this afternoon, I stumbled across this post by Roger, our friend ‘cross the pond. His mood so perfectly matches mine that I believe he has sneaked into my head and read my thoughts! Thank you, Sir Roger, for putting into words the many frustrations of the moment …
Listen To Annie … PLEASE!!!
Our friend Annie has some wise words for any who think their vote might not matter much. She is kinder (and wiser) than I am … she uses the carrot, when I would likely go for the stick! Thank you, Annie, and let’s hope every eligible voter is listening and understands just how important this election is.
The Hefty Price Of Racism
The ‘United’ States of America, such as it is, was founded by immigrants. There are very few people alive in this nation whose ancestors did not come here from “somewhere else”. And yet, to hear the Republicans — most notably their chosen leader — talk, you’d think that immigrants were the scourge of the nation. As I’ve mentioned before, our best friends & neighbors are immigrants from Iraq and they are the kindest, most hard-working people you could ever hope to meet. But the Republican party, notably it’s “leader”, have plans to turn this nation upside down and shake out all immigrants like shaking coins from a piggy bank. And why? Because he is a white supremacist hoping to appeal to other hateful, angry white supremacists in the nation. Our friend Gronda writes about one of the many consequences a mass deportation such as the one Trump plans and why it would create havoc.
♫ Clive Helps Out ♫
For some reason I’m exceptionally tired tonight and so I decided to ask our dear friend Clive to help me out with a music post. Oh, but wait … it’s 5:00 a.m. in the UK as I’m writing this and I don’t think Clive would appreciate being wakened at this hour, so … I’m gonna just cautiously assume that Clive won’t mind helping me out, just this once! He offers us two songs … the first one I’ve known forever and always liked, the second I had never heard before, even though it charted well here in the U.S. I guess I had my head buried in the sand! Anyway … enjoy! And thank you, Clive, for helping me out tonight!
This Is One Book I’d Like To Burn!
I have mentioned the now-infamous ‘Project 2025’, the Heritage Foundation’s guide for the next Republican president, numerous times, but I have yet to begin the deep dive I’ve been promising. With only 44 days left until election day, it’s time to get down to business. Since I’m still somewhat under the weather and Covid has limited my abilities, I turn to blogging friend Jason over at The Flensburg Files, who has put together a bit of information and a few informative videos. I’ll have more to say about several of the topics including education, LGBTQ and women’s rights, the environment, Christian nationalism, etc., in the next couple of weeks, but this is a good starting point for those who have only a vague notion of what this project is about. Thank you, Jason, for all that you do!
More Shame For The Nation
Our friend Annie tackles the topic of the lies that have been told by the Republican nominee and his cohort … lies that have caused an entire town to nearly shut down and have brought threats of danger to all its residents. How do we stop this nonsense??? Are there, in fact, any ‘cooler heads’ within the Republican Party and if so, what are they doing? Twiddling their thumbs??? Sigh. Thank you, Annie, for this comprehensive post about a horrific situation.
