I have many … far too many … things flitting across the radar of my mind these days, and the result is what I call ‘snarklets’ … or just mini snippets of snark.
With friends like the U.S., who needs enemies, right? Recently, Donald Trump claimed that he would withdraw the United States from NATO on his first day as president if he were to be elected in November. And then last weekend, he said he would encourage Russian President/Dictator Vladimir Putin to attack any of the NATO nations who were behind in their financial support of the alliance. One would think that funding for NATO were coming straight out of Donald’s pocket … when quite the opposite is true. I have paid more toward NATO than tax-dodger Trump ever has, and so have you!
More on this later … I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.
At least 67 Palestinians including women and children were murdered by Israeli military in the effort to rescue two Israeli hostages from Gaza. So, to Benjamin Netanyahu, at least 67 lives were cumulatively of less value than the lives of two Israeli men ages 60 & 70. What a humanitarian … NOT!
I really don’t care who Georgia prosecutor Fani Willis slept with or is sleeping with. Her personal life is her business, not ours. And who she sleeps with has nothing at all to do with Donald Trump’s attempts to coerce, bully and browbeat Georgia election officials to break the law by changing votes.
Today is the election in New York’s 3rd district to fill the seat in the House of Representatives vacated by George Santos, who was expelled for his many, many lies. Fingers crossed for the Democrat, Tom Suozzi, who has been seriously campaigning and has a slight edge in the polls. Additionally, I hear that the major snowstorm in New York last night and this morning may actually help Suozzi, because far more Democrats vote early and by mail, with Republicans preferring to vote on the day at the polls. Let us hope the good people of District 3 do not give the Republicans another seat to use and abuse!
Speaking of the U.S. House of Representatives … House Speaker (for now, anyway) Mike Johnson invited California Pastor Jack Hibbs to deliver the House invocation last week. Pastor Hibbs, known for his anti-Semitism and anti-LGBTQ stance, said in his speech to members of the House that what we need is more “biblical masculinity.”
“There’s a war on men. Men are not allowed to be strong; men are not allowed to be the leader, and men cannot have an opinion anymore, not allowed. Whatever we say, it’s the wrong thing. It’s sexist; it’s chauvinistic; it’s racist.”
Apparently, Mr. Hibbs doesn’t much like the 21st century and would prefer to return to the 18th century.
You’re aware of ol’ Tucker Carlson’s interview with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin last week? Well, Tuck just fell in love with Russia …
“It is so much nicer than any city in my country. I had no idea. It is so much cleaner and safer and prettier, aesthetically, its architecture, its food, its service, than any city in the United States that you have to — and this is not ideological — how did that happen? How did that happen?”
I’ve got a great idea, Tuck … pack up your sh*t and move to Russia where you can continue to lick Putin’s boots and where we won’t have to look at your ugly mug ever again! Beware of standing near a window in a tall building, though!
Just one more thing … a question for House Speaker Mike Johnson … how are those appropriations bills coming along, Mikey? Just 18 days left before the next government shutdown … I guess you guys are burning the midnight oil to get ’em done, eh? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
