Jolly Last-Monday-In-July Monday!

Good Monday morning, dear friends!  Yep, today is the last day in July, typically the hottest month of the year in the northern hemisphere, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up for the temps to cool down any time soon this year!  Anyway, we are only three months away from Hallowe’en … time to start preparing!  How was your weekend?  I hope you all got to do something fun, or at least stayed home and stayed cool!

Joyful and I decided on some cool, no-cooking-required foods for this morning’s snack, so sorry — no bacon this week!  Help yourself to the buffet and then let’s go see what Jolly, Joyful and I have found that we hope will start your week off on the right foot, with a smile or a chuckle …

Wh-Wha-What???  It’s Monday again … already???  What happened to the weekend?  Ah well … the bright side is that if it’s Monday, then you guys are here to share in the smiles, laughter, and bacon that always accompany Jolly Monday!  See … it’s true that every cloud has a silver lining … even Monday!  I smell something good, so let’s go see what Joyful has cooked up for us, shall we?

Just Another Jolly ‘N Joyful Monday

Good Monday morning, friends … c’mon in from the cold!  Just leave your boots in the hallway there and Jolly will shake the snow off of them and set them over by the heat register to dry.  A “dusting to an inch” they said!  HAH!!!  There’s a good six inches out there!  I was surprised that none of the neighbor kids built a snowman yesterday.  ‘Twould have been a good day for a snowball fight!  Anyway … Joyful thought it was a good day for soup and bread, so let’s go see what’s on the buffet and then see what fun things we found to start the week out with a smile, a chuckle, or maybe even a laugh!

Y’know, I’ve been thinking.  I’ve long said that if I get the chance, I will return to earth as a wolf, for I’ve long thought of the wolf as my ‘spirit animal’, but I think I might prefer to return as a bear.  Why, you ask?  Bears get to hibernate in warm caves and sleep all winter, while wolves do not hibernate and are out prowling for food even in sub-zero temperatures.  Right about now, hibernating in a warm, dark cave sounds better than roaming the frozen tundra in search of food!  Anyway … the time has come for us to say goodbye, but only for a little while.  We hope you enjoyed your visit this morning, and please share those lovely smiles with others who seem to need one of their own.  Keep safe and warm, and have a wonderful week!  Love ‘n hugs from Filosofa, Jolly and Joyful!

Jolly Monday With Bacon!

Good morning, friends!  Well, that certainly was a short long weekend, wasn’t it?

Daughter Chris had 4 days off, but it seemed like far less.  Still, I’m glad Thanksgiving is behind us and I just wish Christmas was also in the rearview mirror.  I used to love the holidays, but not so much anymore.  I’ve become a creature of routine and the holidays shatter my routine and exhaust both me and my paltry bank account.  Anyway, Monday is here, and we will try to switch from weekend mode to work-week mode with a bit of fun and some chuckles.  Meanwhile, though, Joyful has whipped up some goodies, so grab a plate and let’s go in search of humour to start the day!

Jolly HOT July Monday!!!

Good {yawn} Monday morn, friends {yawn}.  Have I mentioned that I HATE holidays that involve fireworks?  People here in da hood apparently thought it would be great fun to put off fireworks Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night until the wee hours of the morning {yawn}.  And I’m sure they’ll carry it over into tonight, as well.  Ah well … thus far I haven’t taken my wooden rolling pin and gone out threatening to bash any heads in, so I’m doing better than last year.  I hope you all had a quieter weekend than we did!  And now, we begin another week … the first full week of July.  So … to start the week and month out with a smile, Jolly, Joyful and I have dug up some fun things!  First, though, let’s see what Joyful has cooked up for us …

A Very Jolly Monday!!!

Good morning my friends, and welcome to … M-M-MONDAY!!!!  Whoa … what was that sound?  I just heard someone’s belly growling loudly … was it yours, Joe?  Okay, we better cut to the chase and see what yummy assortment of treats Joyful has cooked up for us.

Wait … Joyful … peanut butter and pickle sandwiches???  

Hey guys … next time you’re on a trip and your wife says she needs to stop for a potty break, you might want to reconsider the eyerolling and deep sighs of exasperation.  A South Carolina man said he had been driving with his wife when they stopped at the Rainbow Gas Garden in Swansea so the woman could use the restroom.  The man said he decided to go into the store and bought a Carolina Riches scratch-off ticket. He said he waited until his wife returned to the car to scratch the ticket, which revealed a $200,000 top prize!  I bet she hasn’t let him live that one down!

I put Jolly in charge of finding today’s cartoons and I think he did a pretty good job … let’s see what you think …

{yawn}  Huh?  OH … Sorry ’bout that … good Monday morning, my friends!  C’mon in … Jolly, take their coats, please.  Overlook the mess … I was lazy this weekend!  So, did you all have a reasonably pleasant weekend?  Mine was okay … didn’t do anything special, but just being lazy with the girls home was good enough for me.  Now, Joyful has prepared some breakfast, I believe, so grab a snack and a cuppa Joe to help you wake up, and then we’ve got some fun ‘toons, pictures, and memes to start your week off with a laugh or two!

Jolly Monday — Smiles Galore!

Good Monday morn, my friends!🌻  No, I’m not bright and cheerful, I’m just trying to put on a good act … is it working?  So, how was your weekend … do anything special?  Miss Goose and I were reminiscing a day or two ago about the last time we went to the book shop and out to eat at a restaurant … over 15 months ago.  That was the weekend that the governor of our state announced that all non-essential businesses must close, and I remembered how I turned to my daughter and said, “Well, it better not last past next weekend!”  We laugh about that now, some 64 weekends later!  Ah well, we’re alive and surviving, and in truth, Miss Goose and I have gotten quite comfortable with staying home in our jammies all day every day!

I promised after last week that there would be a better spread this morning, so Joyful and I have been busy li’l beavers in the kitchen this morning rustling up some grub!  Grab a plate and a cuppa and then we’ll see if we can’t start this week out with some humour, eh?

Oops!

Fred Flintstone is alive and well in Hillsborough, California!  Well, sort of anyway.  Property owner and retired publishing mogul Florence Fang has quite an interesting home and outdoor décor in this ‘posh’ subdivision of San Francisco, including sculptures of Fred, Barney and the gang from the Flintstones cartoon series.  Take a look …

The house itself is shaped like … well, I’m not sure what that shape is, exactly … and the décor is whimsical, to say the least!  Well … the people of Hillsborough apparently didn’t like whimsical, but preferred stodgy, brick and mortar homes that looked just like their own, so they complained to the city and the city filed a lawsuit against Ms. Fang.  She counter-sued and the whole thing turned into a comical brouhaha, but at long last (this has been going on since 2019) the lawsuits are settled and the important thing is that Fred and the gang get to stay!  I’m sure the neighbors are green with envy!
