Rainy Day Snarky Snippets

The dreary gloom outside matches my mood inside, so … It’s time for some snarky snippets!  Granted, most of what I write these days is snark-filled, but still there is more … it’s never-ending.

AR-15 vs pandemic

Junior, aka Donald Trump, Jr., has contracted the coronavirus.  He says he is doing well … too bad.  He also said he will pass the time in isolation battling with the virus by cleaning his collection of guns.  I wonder just how many he has?  And what … does he think if he gets those guns all nice and clean (how did they get dirty, anyway?) that he can just shoot the virus and make it go away?  Or perhaps he’s planning another killing spree with his brother soon …

The last party …

Meanwhile, Karen Pence, has invited Congressional Club members to an afternoon “Christmas Craft” at the VP’s residence on December 9th at 1 p.m. Attendees are requested to wear ‘Holiday Attire’, but the invite makes no mention of masks. The event comes as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has discouraged holiday gatherings, and as we have set new records nearly every day for new cases and deaths due to the pandemic. Her husband, Vice-president Mike Pence, is allegedly the head of the White House’s coronavirus task force, which has said indoor gatherings should be limited.  Oh, the irony!  The delusion!  The stupidity!

Thankfully, this will likely be the last time she gets to use that title.

Poetic justice …

Merrick-GarlandIn a bit of fun irony, it is reported that President-elect Biden is considering Merrick Garland for the position of Attorney General!  You’ll remember that moderate Garland was President Obama’s pick to fill the Supreme Court seat left open on the death of Justice Antonin Scalia in 2012.  Mitch McConnell single-handedly refused to allow the Senate to even interview Garland or consider the nomination, claiming the seat should remain open for the next ‘president’ to fill.  Funny, isn’t it, how he changed his tune this year after the death of Justice Ginsburg?  I wonder if Moscow Mitch will find some objection to Garland as Attorney General?  Wouldn’t it be nice if the other republican senators grew a pair and stood up to Mitch … just once?

mnuchinGiving Americans a middle finger

It isn’t bad enough that Trump is certifiably insane and is throwing roadblocks up all over the place to deny President-elect Biden access to information that would allow for a peaceful, smooth transition in January, but his minions are playing the game also.  On-his-way-out treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin has decided to end a variety of programs aimed at helping markets, businesses and municipalities weather the pandemic and asking the central bank to return the funds earmarked to support those efforts.

By ending the programs, Mnuchin is taking away a source of economic support just as the new administration comes into office and as rising virus cases dog the recovery. By asking the Fed to return the money that enables the emergency efforts, he could make it harder for Democrats to restart them at a large scale and on more generous terms.  This is another trumpeter giving We the People a middle finger.  Again.  If this country goes into a deep recession next year, don’t even think of blaming the Biden administration … put the blame where it belongs, in Donald Trump’s court.

The murderer is back on the streets

Remember Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old white supremacist punk who shot and killed two people at a Black Lives Matter protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin back in August?  Well, he is out of prison on $2 million cash bond as of yesterday.

Hours after the release, one of his attorneys, Lin Wood, posted this picture of Rittenhouse alongside actor Ricky Schroder.

rittenhouse

“Free at last!!!,” Wood wrote, above the smiling photograph in which the newly freed Rittenhouse is wearing a Black Rifle Coffee Company t-shirt.  Well, not exactly ‘free’, since he faces five felony charges of first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide and attempted first-degree intentional homicide.  In another tweet, Wood called Rittenhouse “a hero”.  And this may well define just what is wrong with half of this nation today.  When we applaud killing, when we call cold-blooded killers ‘heroes’, then we have for damn sure lost all shreds of humanity.

Personally, I hope Rittenhouse goes to prison and doesn’t come back into society until he is too old and doddery to even walk straight, let along shoot straight.

A final note …

And last but not least, Fox News’ idiot Geraldo Rivera thinks Trump should be honoured by having the coronavirus vaccine named after him.  Personally, I think it would be more appropriate to name the virus itself after Trump, for he has the blood of hundreds of thousands on his hands due to his intentionally inept response.  Yes, the trumptanicvirus … or TTV … sounds about right to me.

The RNC — A Laugh A Minute!

I did not watch even a single minute of the Republican National Convention, nor do I plan to.  I have enough troubles at the moment, without having to watch vomit-inducing speeches by some of the ugliest people in the nation.  But, I read enough news stories and commentaries this morning to draw a couple of conclusions, which I shall share here with you today.

First, it appears that the Republican Party, or should I say, Donald Trump, has no platform.  Their platform, such as it is, seems to be to turn Joe Biden … all democrats, in fact … into some sort of monster who must be feared.  A few samples …

  • Joe Biden and the radical left are now coming for our freedom of speech. They want to bully us into submission. If they get their way, it will no longer be the silent majority. It will be the silenced majority. – Don Trump Junior
  • Joe Biden and the radical left Democrats … want to drag us into the dark. – Don Trump Junior
  • The woke-topians will disarm you, empty the prisons, lock you in your home and invite MS-13 to live next door, and the police aren’t coming when you call. – Matt Gaetz
  • They want to steal your liberty, your freedom. They want to control what you see and think and believe so that they can control how you live. They want to enslave you to the weak, dependent, liberal victim ideology, to the point that you will not recognize this country or yourself. – Kimberly Guilfoyle (Junior’s latest paramour)
  • They’re not satisfied with spreading the chaos and violence into our communities. They want to abolish the suburbs altogether. Make no mistake, no matter where you live, your family will not be safe in the radical Democrats’ America. – the McCloskeys (the couple who pointed guns at peaceful protestors simply walking down the sidewalk)

There’s more, but you get the message, right?  In 2016, Trump’s only real platform was fear-mongering, telling the less intellectual among us that we must be afraid of immigrants, for they are coming to rape your women, kill your children, and take your jobs.  He painted Latinos as rapists and murderers, and Middle-Easterners as Islamic terrorists, in order to strike terror into the hearts of those who knew no better.  “I alone can fix this,” he claimed.  And this year is no different … just a different ‘enemy’ this time.

And along those lines, the speakers at the RNC went out of their way to claim that Trump is not a racist and the U.S. is not a racist nation, even as Trump refers to the coronavirus as the “China virus”, and Junior calls Joe Biden, “Beijing Biden”.  Oh no, no racism here!

“In much of the Democratic party it’s now fashionable to say America is racist. That is a lie. America is not a racist country.” – Nikki Haley

Try telling that to the family of George Floyd, or to Jacob Blake, fighting for his life in a Milwaukee hospital.rnc-toon-2Last Friday, Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris was asked by ABC News’ David Muir in a joint interview with Joe Biden about various names Trump has called her recently.  Her response should be an example for all of us when Trump and his cronies start with the name-calling and the lies.  Senator Harris laughed.

Kamala-Harris

Muir: “President Trump has referred to you as ‘nasty,’ ‘a sort of madwoman,’ ‘a disaster,’ ‘the meanest, most horrible, most disrespectful of anybody in the U.S. Senate.’ How do you define what you hear from the president?”

Harris started to laugh halfway through the question.

Harris: “Listen, I really – I think there is so much about what comes out of Donald Trump’s mouth that is designed to distract the American people from what he is doing every day that is about neglect, negligence and harm to the American people.”

I really think this is what we must all learn to do … laugh at the ridiculousness of the claims, then move on and focus on the positive, focus on Joe Biden’s candidacy, his platform, the things that will begin to heal the deep wounds in this nation.  Trump & Co can only make those wounds deeper, more infectious, if we allow them to.  Here’s an example for you …

I had to laugh at the part where Junior said, “Our founders believed there was nothing more important than protecting our God given right to think for ourselves.”  Think?  Junior?  🤣🤣🤣

They really are a riot … rather like an episode of The Three Stooges, only with really bad actors.

And if you want another joke, one speaker even compared Trump to George Bailey in the movie It’s a Wonderful Life!!!

And perhaps the most ludicrous of all, given all the irrefutable evidence of Trump’s campaign colluding with Putin and the Russians to influence the 2016 election, is this statement by Trump himself …

“We caught them doing some really bad things in 2016. We have to be very careful because they’re trying it again with this whole 80 million mail-in ballots that they’re working on. The only way they can take this election away from us is if it’s a rigged election.”

Remember, folks … LAUGH!!!  If you don’t laugh, you might cry, and I understand that the tissue companies like Kleenex and Puffs are already working overtime to try to meet demand!

Da Trump Boys Are Unhappy … OH NO!!!

Those Trump boys sure do get around a lot these days.  Junior was in India last week, promoting the business interests of the Trump organization, and then Eric gave a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Maryland.  By the way, in case you have any doubts … we the taxpayers pay for 24/7 security for ‘the boys’, wherever they go and whatever they do. I would not be surprised to find that we foot the bill for at least a portion of their travel expenses as well.  But despite that, ol’ Eric is not happy with those of us who pay for all his pricey perks.

Eric says we are taking away their freedom of speech!  It started with Junior’s trip to India to … to … what?  Some say he went there to conduct the business of the Trump organization, others say that he went there to deliver a foreign policy speech.  Now, even the average Joe on the street can tell you that these two don’t mix.  It is what we call a ‘conflict of interest’.  And perhaps more importantly … Junior is not, at least officially, employed by the United States government, so what the heck business does he have delivering a speech on U.S. foreign policy?

First, his business purpose:  to sell condos.  It is reported that he sold at least $15 million-worth of real estate in a single day by offering potential buyers a dinner with Donald Jr. himself if they purchased a condominium in the new Trump Towers project in Gurgaon.  People would buy a $1.5 million condo just for the chance to eat dinner with Junior and watch him slop food down his front, if he eats in the same way his father does?  Wow!

Trump clan toonGiven the nature of his business trip, it seemed inappropriate to most that he would also deliver a foreign policy speech.  Junior has a degree in Economics from Wharton … not in Political Science, not in Foreign Policy, and not in International Relations.  Economics.  Nothing in his background qualifies him as a foreign policy expert and by all rights, he should have  no inside knowledge of U.S. foreign policy.  His speech was to be titled “Reshaping Indo-Pacific Ties: The New Era of Cooperation”.  Pretty hefty stuff for a lightweight.

And the concerns were many.  Senator Robert Menendez sought assurances from the United States Embassy in Delhi that it was not helping Mr. Trump, writing to the Embassy in New Delhi …

“Given the potential to confuse Mr. Trump’s private business visit with having an official governmental purpose, I write to ensure that the U.S. Embassy presence in India will have no role in supporting Mr. Trump or the Trump Organization during his time in India, other than that necessary to provide any security support for the U.S. Secret Service.”

Joshua White, former director for South Asian Affairs at the National Security Council …

“It is not illegal, but it would muddy the waters and I think make life rather difficult for those in the United States government who are being measured about how they articulate what the administration’s Indo-Pacific strategy is and will become.”

And Marilyn L. Glynn, former general counsel at the Office of Government Ethics …

“Nothing like this — no, never. Unprecedented, unheard-of.”

And so, ultimately, Junior cancelled his speech, and likely breathed a sigh of relief, but not one he will admit to, for now the stance of the boys is that the criticism, the controversy, has robbed them of their right to freedom of speech.  Awwwwwww … pobtecitos!!!

“My brother was over there. We have a bunch of buildings in India. He’s talking about how the Indian people are wonderful people and he enjoys his experience over there and everything else, and then all of a sudden you have this. These are the first people that say the First Amendment should be protected until you say something they disagree with and then they try to shred you to pieces.”

Whine, whine, whine.  Grow a pair, Eric! Funny, isn’t it, that the mounds of criticism and ranting the entire Trump clan, has heaped upon the press, whose freedom of speech is also protected by the very same 1st Amendment, is somehow considered to be ‘okay’?

The Office of Government Ethics (OGE) has been rudderless since the resignation of Walter Shaub last July, after he called out the Trump administration on various conflicts of interest.  However, Emory A. Rounds III was recently nominated to head the office, pending Senate confirmation.  I would like to see him make it his first priority to investigate the travels of both Don Junior and Eric and determine just how much is being paid for by we the taxpayers, for I suspect it is far more than it should be.  And meanwhile, since we do not employ either Junior or Eric, they need to do their jobs as heads of the Trump business ventures and keep their noses, hands and mouths out of our government.

Another Shoe Drops In Trump-Russia Probe (President Dictated Son’s 6/9/16 Meeting Response)

I have often thought that Donald Trump is his own worst enemy, and the latest news is more proof, as if we needed more, of this. I will ask my dear blogger-friend Gronda to tell you … the rest of the story. Many thanks, Gronda, for this excellent post and for allowing me to share it!

This is the latest news in the Trump-Russian saga…

On July 31, 2017, Ashley Parker, Carol D. Leonnig, Phillip Rucker and Tom Hamburger of the Washington Post penned the following report, “Trump dictated son’s misleading statement on meeting with Russian lawyer.

Excerpts:

“On the sidelines of the Group of 20 summit in Germany last month, President Trump’s advisers discussed how to respond to a new revelation that Trump’s oldest son had met with a Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign — a disclosure the advisers knew carried political and potentially legal peril. ”

“The strategy, the advisers agreed, should be for Donald Trump Jr. to release a statement to get ahead of the story. They wanted to be truthful, so their account couldn’t be repudiated later if the full details emerged.”

“But within hours, at the president’s direction, the plan changed. Flying home from Germany…
