Junior Writ A Book!

Junior-book-1Junior, aka Donald Trump, Jr., has allegedly written a book.  Now, I say ‘allegedly’, because let’s face it, Junior doesn’t come across as the brightest bulb in the pack, but rather as a ‘chip off the old block’, in other words not much more literate than his father.  My guess is he either had a ghost writer or a lot of help from people with far higher IQs than his own.

Disclaimer:  I have not read Junior’s book, nor will I.  I did see a display of them at Barnes & Noble yesterday, but I did not even touch them.

The title of Junior’s book is Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us.  Another “us vs them” book.  The dedication reads …

“I dedicate this book to the DEPLORABLES. While the elite of the other party look down on you and would rather you stay silent, I salute your work ethic, patriotism, and values. America wouldn’t be great without your blood, sweat, and tears.  I will always stand with you!  I am proudly one of you.”

They just can’t leave Hillary alone, can they?  It’s as if they are obsessed. I imagine Hillary is getting more than a few laughs out of their ridiculous obsession.  But I digress.

junior-book-memeThe book, I am told, is currently ranked #3 on Amazon’s ‘bestseller list’, though it has only a 2.5-star rating on Barnes & Noble and doesn’t appear on the New York Times Bestseller list.  Perhaps Jeff Bezos is trying to play nice with Trumpie and manipulated the Amazon rating?  Anyway, people have been having fun with this, or rather making fun of Junior.junior-book.pngComedians Davram Stiefler and Jason Selvig — aka The Good Liars ― on Thursday changed the covers of “Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us” at a Barnes & Noble store in Brooklyn, New York, to “make it a little more honest”.  The Good Liars are the same group that put this poster on the New York City subways …crazy-rudy.pngAnd back in 2017, they planted fake merchandise in the Trump Tower gift shop.  The fake products included KKK hoods, urine-proof sheets, a Vladimir Putin calendar, Russian flags and much more.  Check out their video that tells all about it!  But, back to the book …

The Good Liars weren’t the only ones to spoof Junior! FiggeredWritten by Ben Fletcher, a “UK based actor, writer, producer, director, publisher, and failed politician”, it is touted on Amazon as …

This book will be a book that will change your life as you know it forever. That’s right. Forever.

This is going to be the book that will change forever the way that you look at all of the things that are going on across our great nation and also the rest, not-so-great, bits of the world.

This is going to be the look that makes you realize just how many of the problems that we see and face each day are the fault of those snowflake generation liberals.

In this book, no one is going to be spared.

In this book, political correctness has had its Green Card denied and been turned back at the border.

This parody was released on November 5th, the same day as Junior’s book.  I read a few of the customer reviews and you can tell the democrats from the republicans just by those comments.  Democrats all found it hilarious, republicans all pouted and said, “I don’t see the joke”.  ‘Twould seem the republicans have lost the ability to see humour, have lost the ability to laugh at themselves, eh?

But, if you’re still scratching your head over the #3 Amazon ranking, Junior may have had some help in selling that book.  Turns out that the Republican National Committee (RNC) has bought up a large stock of the books and is giving them as gifts in exchange for campaign donations.RNC-letterDespite the Amazon ranking and favourable reviews, most reviewers did not think highly of the book.  The Guardian reviewers Ed Pilkington and Martin Pengelly were among the naysayers …

“… it reveals its author to be every bit as devoted to partisan trolling, childish insults and grudge-holding as his father in the Oval Office.  Trump Jr tells readers he did not set out in writing Triggered to offend anyone. Which is surprising, as he does such a good job at precisely that.

Special counsel Robert Mueller is a “feeble old fool” at the head of a “crooked investigation”; conservative commentator Bill Kristol is a rat; the Squad of four leftwing congresswomen that includes Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, should be renamed “Hamas caucus”; George W Bush is a loser like Romney.

One of the more striking aspects of the book is the way in which Trump Jr portrays himself as a victim of liberal political correctness. “I’m essentially not allowed to have an opinion any more, let alone express that opinion in public,” he writes.”

junior-colouring-bookBut, there was one thing in the book that has drawn the ire of many, particularly veterans, when he appeared to compare the sacrifices by U.S. troops killed in combat to …

“… the sacrifices we’d have to make to help my father succeed — voluntarily giving up a huge chunk of our business and all international deals to avoid the appearance that we were ‘profiting off of the office.’”

Understandably, many including myself found that offensive.  There is no comparison between men and women who gave their lives in service to their country, in a war they did not start, to a family who chose to divide and destroy an entire nation.  The “sacrifices” they have made have brought them profit and power.  The sacrifices the soldiers made brought them and their families nothing but grief.  No comparison.

Yesterday, Junior stormed out of a book launch in anger.  The ultimate irony is in this headline:

“Donald Trump Jr. stormed out of an event for his book — which accuses the left of stifling open debate — after getting heckled for refusing to do a Q&A”

The funniest part about this is that the people there were Trump supporters!  They just wanted him to answer some questions. Like his father before him, this boy knows how to make a fool of himself, then blame us for laughing!  For those of you who are old enough … remember what the old Sears & Roebuck catalogs were used for?  Perhaps Junior’s book could serve a similar purpose?

Lest you think I’m being too hard on “poor li’l Junior”, I leave you with a couple of final pictures … the ones I always see in my mind whenever I hear his name …junior - killertrump-sons-killers

Bits ‘n Pieces of This ‘n That

mind-bounce.jpgMind bounce, as I call it, Grasshopper mind as our friend David calls it … whatever you call it, it is sometimes annoying, other times a good thing.  It is when your mind refuses to settle on any one topic for very long, bouncing from hither to yon, seeking to know something about everything.  I believe it is more prevalent in this, the era of Trump, for there are so many different things happening all at once that one cannot pick just one topic.  So, today I gave in to the mind bounce and instead of one single topic, I am doing a bit of this and a bit of that …

Donnie Junior …

Those who donate to the Trump campaign (yes, they are still soliciting donations, for I occasionally get an email asking for a contribution) will no doubt be happy to know where their contributions are going.  Mostly, it seems, they are being used to pay Donnie Trump Junior’s massive legal fees.  The Federal Election Commission (FEC) reports that the Trump campaign spent $267,924 on Junior’s legal fees from July through September.  The figure includes $237,924 for Junior’s personal attorney, Alan Futerfas. Another $30,000 went to Williams and Jensen, which helped Junior prepare for Congressional testimony.

And if you donated to the Republican National Committee (RNC), hoping that your contributions would help with various republican candidates’ campaigns, you have also helped Junior, for the RNC spent more than $200,000 on his legal fees, with most going to Alan Futerfas.

In total, more than a half million dollars have been spent on Junior’s legal fees for his utter ignorance when he attempted to collud with the Russians to bring Hillary Clinton down last year.  Two observations:  1) Junior isn’t too bright, but that seems to run in the family, 2) Alan Futerfas is racking up some big money from the Trumps.

More of the Harvey Weinstein show …

Once the sexual harassment claims against Harvey Weinstein became public, it was like an avalanche, with one, then another finally feeling free to speak up.  Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie were among the two most well-known.  Last week, it was announced that Weinstein had been expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.  Some actors, such as Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are scrambling to distance themselves from Weinstein and claiming to have had no prior knowledge of his exploits.

weinstein-allen

Woody Allen & Harvey Weinstein

On the other side, however, there is Woody Allen, the comedian who was accused, but never convicted of sexually abusing his step daughter. Allen referred to the Weinstein case as a ‘witch hunt’.  (Hmmmm … where have I heard that term before?)  Allen called “the whole Harvey Weinstein thing” a situation that is “very sad for everybody involved. Tragic for the poor women that were involved, sad for Harvey that his life is so messed up.”

I initially said that I did not believe Weinstein would ever see the inside of a jail cell, but now I’m not so sure.  He just might, and personally I hope he does.

Up … Down … Either way, Trump wants credit

up-downWhen the stock market soared earlier this year, Trump claimed sole credit. The reasons for the surge, of course, are more complex and largely have less to do with Trump than he would have us believe.  But last week, Trump announced a new health care policy in which the federal government will halt its practice of paying insurance companies for subsidizing health care for low-income people, effectively shafting some 20 million people. Insurance stocks plummeted, and Trump claims proudly that this, too, signals his success.

“Health Insurance stocks, which have gone through the roof during the ObamaCare years, plunged yesterday after I ended their Dems windfall!”

Does this ‘man’ not understand anything? Does he think that only democrats own stock in insurance companies?  Or does he think that all the lower income people who were beneficiaries of the insurance subsidies are democrats?  And, given that the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects that his stroke of the pen will increase the federal deficit by $21 billion by 2020, does he not realize … oh, never mind … of course he does not …

A lack of respect …

In the 10 days since four Green Berets were ambushed and killed in Niger, President Donald Trump has used his Twitter account to attack a sports commentator, call for a curtailing of the free press, denigrate his political enemies, sell a book, draw attention to Vice President Mike Pence’s public protest at taxpayers’ expense, and congratulate himself for a job well done.

green beret.jpgYet he’s failed to say anything about the four U.S. service members killed in Western Africa: Staff Sgt. Bryan Black, Staff Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson, Staff Sgt. Dustin Wright, and Sgt. La David Johnson. About a dozen troops were ambushed on Oct. 4 while on a joint patrol with Nigerien troops; five Nigerien soldiers were also killed. This marks the deadliest-yet engagement for U.S. troops since Trump took office, and yet Trump himself has issued no tweets or personal statements about the matter, 10 days after the fact.

And yet another climate-change denier enters the White House …

Last Thursday, Trump nominated Kathleen Hartnett White to lead the White House Council on Environmental Quality. Ms. White not only denies that man’s contribution to a changing climate is destroying our environment, but she actually claims to believe that increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is good for humanity!!!

kathleen-white

She has described efforts to combat climate change as primarily an attack on the fossil fuel industry. Christy Goldfuss, who served as managing director of the White House Council on Environmental Quality under President Barack Obama, said …

“Her views are so out of the mainstream, it’s almost as if she falls in kind of a flat earth category. Her number one task is to rip and throw out the environmental laws that this whole country has come to accept as standards and norms.”

Let us hope that the Senate will have enough sense not to confirm this nominee!

I envision the job ad for any position in the Trump administration as including a line that reads: “only liars and people with an IQ of less than 50 will be considered.”

Thus concludes the detritus from the bouncing mind of Filosofa for today!  Now, perhaps since I got all that out of my head, I can focus?  Have a great day, folks!spider

Blame-It-On-Obama … The New Game In Town

During a news conference in Paris on Thursday, President Trump tried to blame the Obama administration for the fact his eldest son eagerly took a June 2016 meeting with a Kremlin-connected lawyer who promised to provide the campaign with incriminating information about Hillary Clinton. Trump argued that if it wasn’t for Obama, the meeting never would’ve happened in the first place.  The rationale?  Wait for it …

“The lawyer that went to the meeting, I see that she was in the halls of Congress. Also, somebody said that her visa or her passport to come into the county was approved by Attorney General Lynch. Now maybe that’s wrong, I just heard that a little while ago, but I was a little surprised to hear that. So she was here because of Lynch.”

Over the course of the past nearly six months, Trump has always sought to place blame for just about everything on either President Obama or Hillary Clinton. While it is not unusual for incoming presidents to blame their predecessors for problems they inherited, Trump has taken it to a new level. His attacks are ludicrous, as the one above, and often quite on a personal level.

In February, Trump accused Obama of being behind the nationwide protests that were rocking the country, saying he believed Obama orchestrated the backlash to new immigration and healthcare plans at angry town hall meetings.

He has accused Obama of being behind the White House leaks that have been occurring almost since day #1. Then, of course, there was the big one back in March when one morning, out of the clear blue and with no evidence, Trump tweeted, “Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my “wires tapped” in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!” and “How low has President Obama gone to tapp [sic] my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!” A baseless claim, it was quickly disproven and nothing ever came of it, other than Trump once again proved what a fool he is.

When it was determined that General Mike Flynn, briefly Trump’s National Security Advisor, had spoken with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak regarding sanctions that Obama was about to place on Russia over the election interference, Trump tried to blame Obama for that, too.  Not once, but twice!  And this despite the fact that President Obama and acting Attorney General Sally Yates had both warned Trump about Flynn, advising against selecting him for National Security Advisor – advice Trump chose to ignore.  But Trump persisted, saying that it was Obama’s fault Flynn traveled to Moscow in 2015 for a celebration of the Kremlin-backed network RT, where he was reportedly paid $45,000 and ate dinner with Vladimir Putin. And then, when nobody took that one seriously, he blamed Obama because Flynn had been given the highest security clearance which, he says, is what he based his decision to hire Flynn on.

And he blames Obama for:

  • Syria“I think the Obama administration had a great opportunity to solve this crisis a long time ago when he said ‘the red line in the sand.’ And when he didn’t cross that line after making the threat, I think that set us back a long ways, not only in Syria, but in many parts of the world.”
  • North Korea“We have a big problem. We have somebody that is not doing the right thing, and that’s going to be my responsibility. But I’ll tell you, that responsibility could have been made a lot easier if it was handled years ago.”
  • Iran “The Iran deal made by the previous administration is one of the worst deals I have ever witnessed, and I’ve witnessed some beauties.”

Picture li’l Donnie Trump on an average day.  He gets up, showers (?  I dunno – he always looks a bit greasy to me), then gets dressed, donning his extra-long (why?) tie.  As he is tying his shoes, a shoelace snaps.  Blame it on Obama.  At breakfast, his sausages are not cooked quite to perfection.  Blame the chef?  Heck no … blame it on Obama!  In the Oval Office, getting ready to sign yet another of his infamous ‘executive orders’, the pen runs out of ink!  Blame it on Obama – he must have ordered those cheap pens!  And so it goes …

President Obama, always a man of class and grace, has had a more measured reaction to Trump’s jibes and has, for the most part, declined to respond publicly to Trump.  This, folks, is the difference between a man and a moron, between a President and an imposter.

Idiot of the Week – Mike Cernovich

Idiot of the Week medal

Well, I have returned from my ‘mini-vacation’ well-rested, both mentally and physically, recharged and ready to get back into the saddle.  But … I cannot seem to find my saddle!  After an hour of perusing the ‘Trump news’, I concluded there is much going on, and yet nothing has really changed.  Every story I read leaves me shaking my head and thinking, “okay, but what’s new?”  So ….. after some consideration, and this one idiot that keeps flitting across my radar, making me want to swat him like a mosquito, I have decided to do an Idiot of the Week today!  Those are always fun, though they often make me growl and grumble, but such is the way of a curmudgeon.

Remember Pizzagate?    Well, though there are many who were guilty of propagating the myth that Hillary Clinton and John Podesta were kidnapping, molesting and trafficking children in the backrooms of Comet Ping Pong pizzeria in Washington, D.C., the man who dreamed up the faux news story was one Mike Cernovich.  I had never heard the name until recently, but apparently this man has been working his way toward the Idiot of the Week award for quite some time now.

cernovich-2Cernovich allegedly obtained a law degree from  the University of Illinois, Pepperdine University School of Law, though I have my doubts.  Why is it that so many of my idiots have law degrees (think Michele Bachmann) … I always thought earning a J.D. was a pretty tough thing, but these days I wonder.  Anyway, in 2012, Cernovich started a website he calls Danger & Play, which began benignly enough, focused mainly on self-improvement.  And then, in 2016, along came Trump, and Cernovich found his niche.

Described as a member of the alt-right (haters of all things not lily-white, male & Christian), he switched his focus to pro-Donald Trump and anti-Hillary Clinton commentary. That, in itself, would not have been extraordinary, nor would it have landed him squarely on my radar.  What does bring him into the limelight, however, is his made-up, blatantly false stories … stories that were seen by many who then spread the lies and hate until … well, Pizzagate where a man with a gun, believing the lie, shot up a pizza place where people were dining and it is nothing short of a miracle that nobody was killed.  Personally, I think this in itself should have earned Cernovich a jail sentence, but let us look back a bit …

  • He started the (false) rumour that Hillary Clinton suffered from seizures and Parkinson’s Disease, a rumour that was embraced by Trump, his campaign, and became a #1 trending topic on Twitter.
  • Cernovich advocates IQ-testing for all immigrants and ending federal funding of universities.

A few words from the man himself::

  • “To beat a person, you lower his or her social status. Logic is pointless,”
  • “What are Trump’s policies? I don’t particularly care.”
  • “If Trump offends you, it’s because you live in a cucked world where no one speaks their minds.”
  • “I haven’t washed my hair in years, and it’s luxurious. Shampoo is another hoax spread by the media.”
  • “Have you guys ever tried ‘raping’ a girl without using force? Try it. It’s basically impossible. Date rape does not exist.”
  • Of the baby girl he and his wife are expecting, he says, “I’ll be nice to her, as long as she’s not a basic bitch”.
  • “Yes, I’m banned from TV. I was too effective a Trump supporter …”

He has many other utterances that further highlight his idiocy, but they are extremely lewd and highly offensive, thus I refuse to give them a voice on this blog.

None of this, however, is what put him onto my radar.  What did is the fact that Donald Trump, Jr., the killer of wild animals, claims that Cernovich should win a Pulitzer Prize for his “journalism”.  And equally disturbing, Trump mouthpiece and herself a former recipient of the Idiot of the Week award, Kellyanne Conway, agrees!  Even Mike Flynn, short-time NSA Director, has praised Cernovich.  The story that led to all this high praise is as follows:

cernovich-trump-jr

cernovich-kellyanne

On Sunday, In what is largely considered a continuation of Trump’s fanatically paranoid claims that President Obama ‘wiretapped’ his phones, Cernovich claimed that former National Security Adviser Susan Rice “unmasked” the identities of Americans connected with President Trump’s campaign and transition who were mentioned in foreign surveillance intelligence reports.  Just as with the wiretapping claim, Pizzagate, and rumours of Hillary’s health, the right took the ball and ran with it. Senator Rand Paul called it “a smoking gun”, while Senator Tom Cotton referred to Rice as “Typhoid Mary”.

According to both The Washington Post and the New York Times, there is, first off, zero evidence that such an “unmasking” ever occurred, and secondly, even if it did, as President Barack Obama’s national security adviser, she could very well have had legitimate reasons to ask to unmask individuals in these intelligence reports.  There is no smoking gun, plain and simple, but this, like the false wiretapping claim, is a useful (for Trump) distraction from the ongoing and expanding investigations and discoveries regarding Trump’s shady connections to the Russian government.

For there to be a suggestion that somebody like Cernovich should be awarded a Pulitzer Prize is a slap in the face to genuine journalists such as Thomas Friedman, Nicholas Kristof, and many others who have earned the prize in years past for excellence in journalism.  If Cernovich should be considered for an Pulitzer, it should be in the category of ‘fiction’, but even at that … his writing just is not that good.

Cernovich has actually written and published three books:

  • Gorilla Mindset: How to Control Your Thoughts and Emotions and Live Life on Your Terms (2015)
  • MAGA Mindset: Making YOU and America Great Again (2016)
  • Danger & Play: Essays on Masculinity (2015)

Perhaps what most qualifies Cernovich for the award is the fact that he takes himself so seriously, appears to actually believe that he is a hero of some sort, and sees himself as “committed to bringing you the best news and journalism, and my “beat” primarily focused on exposing the fake news media,” as per his Facebook page.

cernovich-3

No surprise, right?

One final note:  Cernovich has emphasized the importance of simplicity in social media commentary, noting that when he made his posts “too complex”, none of it got “through to people”. Could it be because of the mental caliber of the people he is trying to reach?

And so, Mr. Mike Cernovich, I hereby name you this week’s recipient of Filosofa’s Idiot of the Week award!!!  No thanks are necessary, and you have certainly earned it with your lies, deceit, arrogance, and all your alt-right phobias!

Tears of Sorrow …

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2:40 p.m. London time, a man driving a sport utility vehicle crushed panicked pedestrians on Westminster Bridge and then stabbed and killed a police officer outside Parliament. These are the facts that are verified as of this writing: At least five people were killed, including the attacker and a police officer, and 40 were wounded, according to the head of London’s Metropolitan Police counterterrorism unit. After the crash, the driver left the vehicle and approached Parliament, where he fatally stabbed a police officer. The police then fatally shot him. Parliament was locked down and a search was conducted for any other assailants in the area. The police said they believed there was only one attacker. Three people who were run over on the bridge died, and the Port of London Authority said another woman was pulled from the River Thames with severe injuries. The police officer who was killled, Keith Palmer, 48, had 15 years of service and was a member of the parliamentary and diplomatic protection division of the Metropolitan Police. Others injured on the bridge included three police officers and several French high school students.

Although the police are operating under the assumption that the incident was motivated by international terrorism, the motives are not yet known, and the identity of the attacker, as of this writing, has not been released. I hesitated to even write about this event at this time, because I have learned over the years that whatever ‘news’ is reported in the first 18-24 hours after a major event is usually not accurate.  However, given that a number of regular readers of this blog live in some part of the UK, I felt I needed to at least let them know that I am thinking of them and that my heart goes out to all.  These are scary times, and this is heart-breaking.  Hugs to Jack, Mary, and Bushka in England, Roger and David in Wales, and all who live in the UK.  I am thinking of you tonight.

I am not alone in sending my condolences.  Most world leaders have weighed in with thoughts, prayers and compassion:

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said her thoughts were “with our British friends and all of the people of London. I want to say for Germany and its citizens: we stand firmly and resolutely by Great Britain’s side in the fight against all forms of terrorism.”

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said, “Today marks one year since the people of Brussels and Belgium suffered a similar pain and felt the support of your sympathy and solidarity.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a statement that it was an “attack on democracies around the world” and Canadians stood “united with the British people in the fight against terrorism”.

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said it was an “attack on parliaments, freedom and democracy everywhere” and offered his support and solidarity to the British government.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said: “Horrible images from London. The very heart of the city has been struck. Our thoughts are with the British people.”

Even Donald Trump reportedly behaved himself, calling Prime Minister Theresa May to offer his condolences and to praise the effective response of UK security services. He pledged the “full co-operation and support” of the US government in bringing those responsible for the attack to justice.

There was one, however, who could not hold his tongue.  Donald Trump Junior apparently inherited his father’s unbridled tongue and he chose this time to criticize London Mayor Sadiq Khan in a tweet:

“You have to be kidding me?!: Terror attacks are part of living in big city, says London Mayor Sadiq Khan.”  Junior was referencing, out of context, comments from a September article in The Independent, but again, he lacked context and an understanding of the entire article, and his tweet was offensive and inappropriate, to say the least.

I apologize to my friends across the pond for the idiocy of the horse’s patoot.  Again, heartfelt thoughts and hugs to my friends.
