Hang In There, Nikki …

While I am no fan of Nikki Haley’s conservative ideology, I applaud and admire her tenacity to stay in the race against the former Liar-in-Chief.  Haley is, I believe, a woman of conscience who at the very least values the laws and people of this nation, unlike her rival.  It is currently unlikely that Ms. Haley can walk away with the Republican nomination, but … she should still give Trump a run for his money because … any number of things can still happen.  Trump could yet be disqualified in a number of states, he could be convicted of crimes that could make his candidacy illegal, he could suffer mental and/or physical health issues that would render him no longer a viable candidate.  If any of those things happen, Nikki Haley would stand a good chance of being the Republican nominee.  Our friend Keith wrote a letter to Nikki Haley urging her to stay in the race, to keep fighting the good fight, and I thought his letter and commentary needed to be shared.

GUILTY!!! As Charged

Yesterday, our friend Keith wrote an important post showing how many people have paid and are paying the price for violently attempting to overthrow the 2020 election.  Many have pleaded guilty … except for the one who quite obviously carries the lions’ share of the guilt.  It’s important we not lose sight of what happened on January 6, 2021, and that we remember how many are paying the price, many of whom have said, under oath, that their actions were a result of the words of the chief insurrectionist — a ‘man’ who has thus far avoided legal consequences for his actions.  The comment thread that follows the post is also well worth taking a few extra minutes to read.  Thank you, Keith, for reminding us all …

He Does Have A Way With Words!

Our friend Keith has a way with words that I certainly don’t have.  He can ever-so-subtly make one scratch one’s head and wonder, “Did he just insult me or compliment me?”  Since I am struggling to find words as I sit here bundled in a sweatshirt and blanket, sipping hot coffee with teeth still chattering, I decided to share Keith’s tonight.  Thank you, Keith!

When This Judge Speaks, We Should Listen

Judge Howard Manning served faithfully and honourably for some 28 years on the North Carolina Superior Court until reaching the state’s mandatory retirement age in 2016.  In his tenure on the bench, he has seen it all and is a good judge of human character.  Yesterday, he wrote about the ‘character’ (or lack thereof) of one of the candidates for the presidency next year.  Our friend Keith shared his words on his post, so some of you may have already seen this, but I thought it needed to be seen and digested by as many as possible, so I am sharing it with you today.  If you haven’t already read it, please do take a few minutes to read and ponder what Judge Manning says about Donald Trump.  And thank you, Keith, for bringing this to our attention.

One Republican Found His Conscience?

After seeing a clip of an interview on Face the Nation with Republican Ken Buck, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, I had planned to write a short post about him, but our friend Keith beat me to the punch, so why re-invent the wheel, right?  Thank you, Keith!!!  I will only add that it should be noted Mr. Buck is retiring from Congress and will not seek re-election next year.  I wonder if he would have been so honest if he were planning to try to hold his seat?

Keith’s Plea To All Politicians!

Given all the challenges facing us today, one would think our elected officials would be working overtime to find viable solutions to real problems, but instead they are preening in front of the cameras and spewing trash talk that gets them even more time in front of the camera.  Their campaigns for re-election next year seem to take precedence over today’s imperative business.  Our friend Keith has written an open letter to all politicians, asking them to put aside their shenanigans, their half-baked radical ideas, and get serious about the business at hand.  I applaud his words, plan to send his letter to a few members of Congress who I think need a wake up call, and hold onto a thread of hope that at least a few will actually listen.  Thank you, Keith, for your always wise thoughts and words!

A Timely Reminder From Our Friend Keith

Humans are the only species I know of that kills randomly and wantonly.  Other species kill for food, or when they feel threatened or in danger, but you won’t find a wolf killing another wolf simply because he doesn’t like the colour of his fur, or because he howls in the wrong key.  Bigotry is the scourge of the human species and our friend Keith reminds us how it  all starts …

Hoping There Are Many More Shoes

The biggest news this weekend is, of course, that the immediate threat of a government shutdown was averted, though I strongly suspect we’ll go through the same all over again in mid-November.  But the other good news is that one of Trump’s co-conspirators in the Georgia election case has agreed to a plea deal … a more lenient sentence in exchange for telling what he knows about the other 18 defendants in the case.  My fondest hope is that this is the first of several, and that his testimony will help prosecutor Fani Willis make her case against not only Donald Trump, but the others as well.  This case needs to send a clear message to any who might consider attempting to override our votes in future elections.  Our friend Keith has the story …

Wisdom & Logic — Will They Prevail? – A Reblog By Keith

Our friend Keith is optimistic that it’s “all over but the crying” for Donald Trump’s political career, and naturally I hope he’s right.  His reasoning makes perfectly good sense to me.  Thing is, though, that it seems like ‘good sense’ has left the minds of many people in this nation and the seedier, nastier, more disgusting people are elevated on the platform when they should instead be relegated to the annals of history.  I like Keith’s way of thinking, though, and what he says has much merit.  Some of you may have already seen Keith’s post, but I wanted to share it today because his words are both important and encouraging, plus he has added several addendums to the post that you may not have seen.  Thank you, Keith, for your wise perspective!

Keith And I Agree — Women CAN Do Anything!

I saw an article over the weekend about the bigoted Charlie Kirk.  Now, I pay no attention to Charlie as a rule, for he is a racist right-wing fanatic who delves into the world of conspiracy theories and panders to the Republican maga crowd, but this caught my eye and I take personal umbrage to what he claims.  He claims that …

The evidence is clear, men have a competitive advantage in chess.  If you have a male brain versus a female brain in chess you have a competitive advantage. The data is clear. Chess is very similar, by the way, to why women do not get into coding. Some do, but most do not. Why women don’t get into science, technology, engineering, and math.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr …

For the record, Mr. Kirk, I spent some 30 years in a career as a Certified Public Accountant, the majority of them in management level positions!  MANY women get into those fields you say we’re not qualified for!  For 100 years, since 1923, we have been trying to get the Equal Rights Amendment passed in Congress and today only 38 states have ratified it!  Women have been fighting this fight forever!  With the Supreme Court ruling on Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization last year, women’s rights took a staggering blow.

Just what is it that gives some men this superiority complex?  I think most men have come to respect women, to value our contributions in every field, but why did it take so long, and what’s the matter with those who still think we are weaklings, inferiors?  Our friend Keith has reprised his post from a few years ago whereby he delves into women in leadership roles.  Take a look at what he has to say …
