A Damn Shame

The Electoral College will meet in just ten days to cast their votes, per the popular vote in their states, for the next president of the United States.  Joe Biden has, as I’m sure you know by now, won 306 electoral votes to Trump’s 232 … so there should be no question, right?  But, you need to know that there are a few shenanigans by people who are attempting to override the will of the people and keep Donald Trump firmly planted in the Oval Office.  Do I think this will work?  No … but I do think we need to be aware, and once again contact our elected officials to make sure they understand that we will not put up with having our voices erased.

Although the Electoral College will meet on December 14th and presumably the electors will vote in good faith, representing the will of the people, there is still one final step in the process.  Congress must certify the Electoral College vote.  Trump has, thus far, lost all but one of his lawsuits, and that one resulted in a negligible difference, especially as compared to the 40 he has lost.  So, his last best hope is for Congress to challenge the results of the Electoral College.  Typically, this wouldn’t be a concern, but this year is like no other in our history.

An obscure 1887 law called the Electoral Count Act, and several subsequent updates, spell out the process, setting January 6th after a presidential election as the official certification date and outlining vague, unnecessarily complex procedures. On that day, the House and Senate meet in a joint session at 1 p.m. — just three days after the newly constituted Congress is sworn in. One of their first orders of business is to pass judgment on the Electoral College vote.

If a single House member and a single senator join forces, they can object to entire slates of presidential electors. They must do so in writing and provide an explanation.  If they do, the House and Senate must retreat to their chambers and debate the outcome for up to two hours before voting on the matter. Each state’s electors are certified separately, meaning lawmakers bent on challenging the results have multiple chances to force lengthy delays.  If the Democrat-run House and GOP-controlled Senate disagree? That outcome has never been tested before, so we are in uncharted waters here.

Why do I bring this up now?  Because at least a few republican members of Congress are trying to rally support for such a challenge.  Representative Mo Brooks of Alabama has been telling colleagues and allies that he plans to challenge the Electoral College votes when Congress officially certifies Joe Biden’s victory on January 6th, as long as a Senate Republican joins him in the long-shot effort.

“In my judgment, if only lawful votes by eligible American citizens were cast, Donald Trump won the Electoral College by a significant margin, and Congress’s certification should reflect that. This election was stolen by the socialists engaging in extraordinary voter fraud and election theft measures.”

Methinks Mr. Brooks has been drinking a bit too much of the Trumpade.  But, he is not alone … the ignoble Matt Gaetz, representative from Florida, unconscionable Warren Davidson from Ohio, and newly-elected Marjorie Taylor Greene, the QAnon follower/promoter, have all said they would seriously consider challenging the certification of the Electoral College.  So, all that’s left is a republican senator to jump on board … is it so hard to believe that Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul, or Lindsey Graham might decide to play along?  They certainly haven’t shown any integrity thus far …

Even so, I think the odds of such a challenge succeeding are slim-to-none, however it is in our best interest to keep an eye open, for there are those who would deny the voice of the people, would instead opt for a government that does not consider the will or best interests of the people.  These are uncharted waters … this entire election and post-election period has been unprecedented in the history of this country. We can be forgiven for not having much trust in the system operating as it was originally intended … as it has for the past 233 years.  Corruption seems to be the name of the republican game and … the only thing I trust them to do is lie, cheat, and steal.

I don’t think the framers of the Constitution nor the people who fought for our freedom ever intended it to be like this.  It’s a sad statement that we cannot trust the people we elected and whose salary we work hard to pay.  Most people work hard all their lives and pay their taxes without question, so that we can support the lifestyles of these people in Congress, most all of whom are independently wealthy beyond our wildest imagination, and half of whom would throw us under the wheels of a bus if it suited their interest.  A damn shame.

Good Night

Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Matt Gaetz, Susan Collins, Joni Ernst and many other horrendous, conscienceless, corrupt members of Congress have been re-elected.  Worse yet, at this point it looks very much like Herr Trump will continue as the Dictator of the nation formerly known as the United States of America.  As of this writing, there are at least 65 million very stupid people in this country who have just signed the death warrant for the country and its 330 million inhabitants.  Thank you, assholes.

Filosofa is OVER and OUT.

The RNC — A Laugh A Minute!

I did not watch even a single minute of the Republican National Convention, nor do I plan to.  I have enough troubles at the moment, without having to watch vomit-inducing speeches by some of the ugliest people in the nation.  But, I read enough news stories and commentaries this morning to draw a couple of conclusions, which I shall share here with you today.

First, it appears that the Republican Party, or should I say, Donald Trump, has no platform.  Their platform, such as it is, seems to be to turn Joe Biden … all democrats, in fact … into some sort of monster who must be feared.  A few samples …

  • Joe Biden and the radical left are now coming for our freedom of speech. They want to bully us into submission. If they get their way, it will no longer be the silent majority. It will be the silenced majority. – Don Trump Junior
  • Joe Biden and the radical left Democrats … want to drag us into the dark. – Don Trump Junior
  • The woke-topians will disarm you, empty the prisons, lock you in your home and invite MS-13 to live next door, and the police aren’t coming when you call. – Matt Gaetz
  • They want to steal your liberty, your freedom. They want to control what you see and think and believe so that they can control how you live. They want to enslave you to the weak, dependent, liberal victim ideology, to the point that you will not recognize this country or yourself. – Kimberly Guilfoyle (Junior’s latest paramour)
  • They’re not satisfied with spreading the chaos and violence into our communities. They want to abolish the suburbs altogether. Make no mistake, no matter where you live, your family will not be safe in the radical Democrats’ America. – the McCloskeys (the couple who pointed guns at peaceful protestors simply walking down the sidewalk)

There’s more, but you get the message, right?  In 2016, Trump’s only real platform was fear-mongering, telling the less intellectual among us that we must be afraid of immigrants, for they are coming to rape your women, kill your children, and take your jobs.  He painted Latinos as rapists and murderers, and Middle-Easterners as Islamic terrorists, in order to strike terror into the hearts of those who knew no better.  “I alone can fix this,” he claimed.  And this year is no different … just a different ‘enemy’ this time.

And along those lines, the speakers at the RNC went out of their way to claim that Trump is not a racist and the U.S. is not a racist nation, even as Trump refers to the coronavirus as the “China virus”, and Junior calls Joe Biden, “Beijing Biden”.  Oh no, no racism here!

“In much of the Democratic party it’s now fashionable to say America is racist. That is a lie. America is not a racist country.” – Nikki Haley

Try telling that to the family of George Floyd, or to Jacob Blake, fighting for his life in a Milwaukee hospital.rnc-toon-2Last Friday, Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris was asked by ABC News’ David Muir in a joint interview with Joe Biden about various names Trump has called her recently.  Her response should be an example for all of us when Trump and his cronies start with the name-calling and the lies.  Senator Harris laughed.

Kamala-Harris

Muir: “President Trump has referred to you as ‘nasty,’ ‘a sort of madwoman,’ ‘a disaster,’ ‘the meanest, most horrible, most disrespectful of anybody in the U.S. Senate.’ How do you define what you hear from the president?”

Harris started to laugh halfway through the question.

Harris: “Listen, I really – I think there is so much about what comes out of Donald Trump’s mouth that is designed to distract the American people from what he is doing every day that is about neglect, negligence and harm to the American people.”

I really think this is what we must all learn to do … laugh at the ridiculousness of the claims, then move on and focus on the positive, focus on Joe Biden’s candidacy, his platform, the things that will begin to heal the deep wounds in this nation.  Trump & Co can only make those wounds deeper, more infectious, if we allow them to.  Here’s an example for you …

I had to laugh at the part where Junior said, “Our founders believed there was nothing more important than protecting our God given right to think for ourselves.”  Think?  Junior?  🤣🤣🤣

They really are a riot … rather like an episode of The Three Stooges, only with really bad actors.

And if you want another joke, one speaker even compared Trump to George Bailey in the movie It’s a Wonderful Life!!!

And perhaps the most ludicrous of all, given all the irrefutable evidence of Trump’s campaign colluding with Putin and the Russians to influence the 2016 election, is this statement by Trump himself …

“We caught them doing some really bad things in 2016. We have to be very careful because they’re trying it again with this whole 80 million mail-in ballots that they’re working on. The only way they can take this election away from us is if it’s a rigged election.”

Remember, folks … LAUGH!!!  If you don’t laugh, you might cry, and I understand that the tissue companies like Kleenex and Puffs are already working overtime to try to meet demand!

Time For Snarky Snippets!

I’m full of snark from a variety of items in yesterday’s news.  What’s new, right?

A step too far …

We’ve all heard about the ridiculous level of federal force being used in Portland, Oregon, where troops – largely unidentified and unidentifiable – dressed in riot gear and heavily armed, are abducting protestors off the streets, shoving them into unmarked vans without even telling them why they are being arrested or by what authority.  These forces are also using tear gas, rubber bullets, stun grenades and other weapons on protestors and any innocent bystanders who happen to be nearby.  One such person was, in fact, the Mayor of Portland, Ted Wheeler!federal-troops-portlandAs Mayor Wheeler stood at a fence guarding a courthouse during another night of protest, watching the carnage these federal troops were inflicting upon his city, he was suddenly sprayed with tear gas.  This, my friends, is far too much.  The presence of federal troops was not called for, and in fact last Friday, Mayor Wheeler told Trump to, “keep your troops in your own buildings or have them leave our city.”

Portland was, as most of us feared, only the beginning of Trump’s attempt to impose a form of martial law, for Trump announced on Wednesday that he will deploy more federal troops to both Chicago and Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Is this really the nation we want to live in?  What’s next?  Your city?  Mine?

The judge is right …

Earlier this month, Michael Cohen, Trump’s former attorney and personal ‘fixer’, was returned to prison, allegedly because he violated the terms of his home confinement.  He didn’t violate any such terms, but the real reason was that Cohen is writing a book.  Yes, another book is in the making, this one about Cohen’s time working for Trump, and given his closeness to Trump, the number of times he paid off prostitutes and whatever other messes he bailed Trump out of, this one should be fascinating!

It is beyond concerning that Trump and his royal henchmen can have a person sent to prison on a lie.  U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein agreed and ordered that Cohen be released from an upstate federal prison by 2 p.m. Friday after being tested for coronavirus at the facility, where he’s been held in a solitary setting since being rearrested July 9th. He will then return to home confinement in Manhattan.

About time …

On Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to remove Confederate statues from the Capitol Building.  I applaud this movement … in fact, I applaud it until my hands have blisters!  The one statue residing in the Capitol that has always made me grind my teeth is that of former Chief Justice Roger B. Taney who authored the Dred Scott decision in 1857, which declared African Americans couldn’t be citizens.  Taney’s bust would be replaced with a statue of Thurgood Marshall, the first African American Supreme Court justice.

Other statues the House voted to bring down include Charles Aycock, John C. Calhoun, and James Paul Clarke.  Now, before some … or one in particular … get on their high horse, this is NOT about what you call “cancel culture” … the history remains, sadly un-erasable … but there is no purpose to be served by honouring these ‘men’ with a notable place in the Capitol.  They were not honourable men and while they will always have a place in the history books, they do not deserve a place anywhere else.

But, before you get too excited, it is highly unlikely that this House bill, even though passed by members of both parties, will make it into law.  You see … Mitch McConnell holds the power of life and death over bills coming in from the House, and it’s unlikely he will even allow it onto the floor of the Senate.  In the unlikely event that he did, and that the Senate passed it, it is even more unlikely that the imposter in the Oval Office would sign it into law.  Still … my fingers are crossed.

More corruption???

Ever notice that when you hear of political corruption, it’s usually tied to the name of a republican?  Take ol’ Duncan Hunter … you remember him, right?  He’s the one who used campaign funds to pay for his children’s school tuition, their school lunches, sports equipment, and to pay to take his pet bunnies on a plane with his family.  By the way … he was sentenced to 11 months in federal prison in March.

House Votes

Well, two more are on the radar this week.  There’s one who I’d love to see brought down, for he has been a juvenile pain-in-the-rear ever since he first came to Congress from the state of Florida.  He is none other than Matt Gaetz, who is accused of sending tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars to a limited liability company linked to a speech-writing consultant who was ousted from the Trump administration, in direct conflict with House ethics rules.  He also used taxpayer money to set up a television studio in his father’s home in Niceville, Florida, which Gaetz uses when he appears on television. Taxpayers foot the bill to rent the television camera, and the private company that built the studio — which Gaetz refuses to identify — takes a fee each time he appears on air.  No estimate on what this has cost us yet.

Larry-HouseholderAnd then there is the Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives, Larry Householder, who was arrested by the FBI in a $60 million bribery scheme!  Ol’ Larry is also a republican, not surprisingly.  Prosecutors accused Householder and four others of spinning up a “criminal enterprise” that collected $60 million in dark money from a struggling energy company.  Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, one of the few republicans for whom I have a modicum of respect, has called on Householder to resign.

Mind you that I’m not saying there aren’t corrupt democrats in our government, for surely there are.  But the worst of the stench seems to emanate from the Republican Party of late, starting at the very top and working its way down through the ranks.

U.S.A. — Circus Of Horrors

Imagine for a moment that you are in a position of power.  Now, imagine that recently you’ve made a number of bad decisions, big mistakes, and the people who decide whether you keep your position are not pleased … not at all pleased.  How do you react?  What steps do you take to try to salvage your job?  I can’t speak for everyone, but I think I would be working extra hard to try to right my past wrongs, to put my “nose to the grindstone”, work extra hours trying to do a better job, to show my superiors that I was worth keeping on.

Donald Trump is in a position of great power.  We can argue ‘til the cows come home about whether he should ever have been handed the keys to the Oval Office, but it is a moot point, for he is there.  He has made so many mistakes over the past three years that in the business world, he would have been ousted long before now.  But in the past few months, he has made grievous mistakes, and there is reason to believe he did so with the intention of destroying the country’s democratic principles.  His superiors, at least the majority of us, are looking to end his employment via the constitutional process known as impeachment.

Under this threat, one might expect him to “man up”, admit to his mistakes and work extra hard to try to salvage his job.  But nooooooo …. instead he is ramping up his vitriolic rhetoric, lashing out at all he perceives as ‘enemies’, and turning our federal government, with the help of certain members of Congress, into a damn three-ring circus!

Yesterday, just as a Pentagon official was about to testify before a closed-door hearing of the House Intelligence Committee, a group of some thirty republican congressmen forced their way into the secure facility on Capitol Hill.  Their intrusion caused a five-hour delay in the proceedings, wasting time and taxpayer’s money.  In addition, they were taking pictures and texting on their cell phones in an area where, for security reasons, cell phones are strictly forbidden.  Are these really the people we elected to represent us in Congress, or a bunch of juvenile delinquents???

Let us be clear here … we are currently at the ‘inquiry’ stage of the impeachment process.  Inquiry … as in collecting information, interviewing witnesses, trying to piece together the details of any impeachable offense Trump may have committed.  This stage of the process is, and has always been, handled by committees and not open to any outside the committee.  Soon enough, the information they have collected will be made public, but that time is not now.  Now, the republicans that disrupted the process yesterday, led by none other than the little scrapper Matt Gaetz, claimed that the democrats were trying to withhold information from republicans, but it should be noted that there are nine republicans on the House Intelligence Committee who were to sit in on the interview!

It was later reported that Trump was aware beforehand that the republican congressmen planned this little drama show and, in fact, encouraged it.

As evidence mounts that Trump did, in fact, use the threat of withholding U.S. aid to enlist the aid and assistance of a foreign power to benefit none other than himself in next year’s election, the republicans seem to have thrown professionalism and caution to the wind and are acting like I would expect a group of five-year-old children to act.  And now this …

None other than the two-faced Lindsey Graham proposes to introduce a resolution condemning the impeachment inquiry!  The “resolution” will be co-sponsored by Moscow Mitch McConnell. Now, mind you this resolution is worth about as much as the piece of paper it will be written on and carries no weight, but … its intent is to stop the bleeding.  Trump’s approval rating has been declining and congressional republicans who have tied their fortunes to his are running scared.  This is Lindsey’s way of saying to the masses who support Trump that he did nothing wrong and that the whole impeachment process is just the mean ol’ democrats who are still pouting over losing in 2016 trying to strike back at poor, innocent little Trumpty Dumpty.

What Lindsey, Mitchie, Matt and all their other ignoble cohorts would do well to remember is that this impeachment is not only sanctioned, but also mandated by the U.S. Constitution, the very document they took an oath to uphold. This impeachment is also long overdue.  There was sufficient evidence in Robert Mueller’s report that Trump had committed impeachable offenses, but Speaker Pelosi held off beginning the process.  It is obvious that Donald Trump thinks of this nation as his own personal playground.  He takes liberties that no other president in the history of the nation has ever done before.  If I didn’t have a horse in this race, it would almost be laughable, but since I have to live in this country, I find nothing funny in any of this.

That bad employee, rather than trying to shape up and do a better job, is instead trying to burn the company down. It is time … past time … to hold Trump AND those like Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell and others who defend the indefensible, accountable for their actions, accountable for turning the U.S. into a laughingstock and our lives into the Nightmare on Elm Street.

They Walk Among Us …

I stopped doing my Idiot of the Week feature around the end of 2017, for a few reasons.  It was fun, but rather irrelevant.  There were so many idiots that it was difficult to keep up.  And a few people felt it was in poor taste, an insult to idiots everywhere.  But I have to say that looking at the news every day, I’m thinking about starting it back up!  They are everywhere you turn!  Three in particular stand out today, and if I were still doing the IotW feature, these would be the first three I would choose.

Da Godfather wannabe?Matt-GaetzIt really does seem that Representative Matt Gaetz from Florida has a problem.  I wrote about him just a few weeks ago (February 7th) for making an utter fool of himself at a House Judiciary Committee meeting on gun regulation whereby he piped up and said we need to build a wall.  This left most of us scratching our heads.  And now, he has opened himself to an investigation by the Florida State Bar Association.  Is he begging for an Idiot of the Week award or what???

What did he do this time, you ask?  He tweeted the following to Michael Cohen on the day before Mr. Cohen was scheduled to begin his testimony before Congress …

“Hey @MichaelCohen212 — Do your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends?  Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she’ll remain faithful when you’re in prison. She’s about to learn a lot.”

I’m beginning to think Mr. Gaetz works for Don Corleone!  Sounds like “tough mob” talk, except from an amateur.  His excuse was … wait for it … he was “witness testing”.  Where I come from, it is called witness intimidation and witness tampering, both of which are quite illegal.  But then, as I wrote earlier this month, Mr. Gaetz has, like his hero in the White House, never been particularly a fan of the law and follows it only when it suits him, hence the picture on the right (above) in prison orange!

Wah wah wah …

kellyanneIf Kellyanne whines as much at home as she does in the media, it’s a thousand wonders that George (Conway) hasn’t sent her packing already.  All she ever does, it seems, is complain and point her knobby finger of blame … most always toward people who have a bit of good sense.

“There’s no question the Republican House failed, and they failed us in securing the border, but they also failed to make good on the promise to him that we would get that money for the wall They completely lied about that.”

Can’t you just hear that nasal whine in her voice?

No, Kellyanne, the republicans who did not support the building of Trump’s ego-wall, finally realized that for once they better listen to the people of this nation.  The people of this nation … at least the large majority of the people in this nation, do not want a stupid wall on the southern border that would be inhumane and also interfere greatly with the economies of the border states.  You, madam, need to study a bit and learn some facts before opening that mouth of yours!  Ask your husband … he can enlighten you!

From bad to worse …

Earlier this week, in light of election fraud committed by a member of Mark Harris’ campaign staff who went about the ninth district of North Carolina collecting people’s absentee ballots, destroying the ones that weren’t for Mr. Harris, Mark Harris removed himself from the upcoming repeat election.  At first, I was pleased by this, but then I started wondering who would replace him as the republican candidate.

Remember Georgia’s own idiot, Brian Kemp, who liked posing for campaign ads with a gun, and in one case with a rifle pointed at his daughter’s boyfriend?  Well … I guess that in the South, every state, by law, must have at least one such idiot!

Meet Mr. Stony Rushing, the new republican candidate replacing Mark Harris …Stony-Rushing

Mr. Rushing is, as you might guess from the above campaign poster from when he was running for Country Commissioner, yet another gun nut.  Even better, he has fashioned himself after Boss Hogg from that ol’ television show, The Dukes of Hazzard!

See the resemblance?  Note the white costume and the cigar?

Rushing owns a gun store and shooting range, and is an advocate for keeping the Confederate flag flying.  It is likely that ol’ Stony will have to share the stage with at least two other republican candidates, and let us hope that at least one of them is sane!  Think about it … this guy could be sitting in the House of Representatives on Capitol Hill in just a month or two!  {shudder}

Where do all these people come from? I’m not sure, but there is one common denominator, in case you haven’t picked up on it yet – they are all members of the Republican Party. Need I say more?

Just One Snarky Snippet …

I mentioned in yesterday afternoon’s post that there had already been 510 gun deaths in the first 37 days of 2019.  Last year saw an increase in gun deaths to the highest level in more than 20 years, with almost 40,000 people killed in shootings.  This represents a total of 12 deaths per 100,000 people – up from 10.1 in 2010 and the highest rate since 1996.

Given the above figures, it only makes sense that our government would be looking into the situation and determining ways to reduce the number of deaths by firearms, right?  Right.  And they are.  Yesterday, the House Judiciary Committee held its first hearing on gun violence in eight years, since the republicans took a majority in 2011.  Republicans, you see, do not like to talk about gun control.

The hearing room was packed with advocates who had lost family members, friends or classmates, or had survived gun violence themselves.  And, of course there were the members of the Judiciary Committee – both democrats and republicans.  It didn’t get off to a good start, for when Representative Jerry Nadler, the House Judiciary’s chairman, attempted to swear in the panel’s speakers, Republican Mike Johnson of Louisiana objected that Nadler had omitted the words “so help me God,” and asked him to repeat the oath.  Seriously???  Apparently so, for the speakers were forced to stand again and take the oath again, with the inclusion of “so help me God”.  Nadler had a bit of a smirk on his face, and who can blame him?

But wait … for it gets even better.

The discussion was about guns, the consistently high rate of gun deaths, and what sort of legislation might make our streets, our schools, shopping centers, public venues a bit safer.  Out of the blue, Florida Republican Representative Matt Gaetz seemed to lose sight of the topic and uttered …Gaetz

“If we really cared about safer streets, we would build a wall and secure the border.  I hope we do not forget the pain, and anguish, and sense of loss felt by those all over the country who have been the victims of violence at the hands of illegal aliens. [Firearms background check legislation] would not have stopped many of the circumstances I raised, but a wall, a barrier on the Southern border may have, and that’s what we’re fighting for.”

Say WHAT???  Who invited this lunatic to the party, anyway?  Obviously, he is incapable of focusing on the topic at hand.  And he lies, for there are few who have “been the victims of violence at the hands of illegal aliens”, as compared to those who have been victims of violence, particularly gun violence, at the hands of American citizens.

Now, it so happened that among the people in the hearing room were two men, Manuel Oliver and Fred Guttenberg, both fathers of Parkland shooting victims.  As you might imagine, they were offput by Gaetz disjointed, out-of-context outburst, and uttered a few words of protest.  Gaetz requested that the two men be thrown out of the hearing for “taking up [his] time”.  The rules of the hearing are that the public is not supposed to comment, but Nadler simply warned Mr. Oliver and Mr. Guttenberg, and they acquiesced.  But, Gaetz was not satisfied, saying …

“I’d observe three interruptions of my time by the same individual, and the chair is not exercising his discretion to remove that individual.”

What, exactly, did the two men say to Gaetz?  According to Mr. Guttenberg, “Manny told Gaetz his comments were not true, and I said our loved ones were killed by an American male.”  True statements of fact, but they didn’t seem to fit into Mr. Gaetz’ agenda, and anyway, facts have little relevance to many in the Republican Party, it seems.  Mr. Guttenberg also made note that a number of the republican committee members left after about the first fifteen minutes, including Steve Chabot (Ohio), Jim Jordan (Ohio), Andy Biggs (Arizona), and Tom McClintock (California).  Time to start the letter-writing if any of these jerks are in your state … let them know we expect them to take gun control seriously!

Bill Kristol

Bill Kristol

Even neoconservative political analyst Bill Kristol was disgusted by Gaetz’ behaviour, tweeting …

“The Founders were well aware the people would sometimes make unfortunate choices for their representatives. But even the Founders with the lowest expectations for popular government would have been astonished at the spectacle of @mattgaetz as a member of Congress.”

Gaetz mug shotMr. Gaetz, it would seem, has a few skeletons in his own closet.  First, here is his mug shot from a 2008 DUI arrest.  Even though he refused the breathalyzer test, he did not have his license suspended for a year as Florida law mandates.  Between 1999 and 2014, he received no less than 16 speeding tickets.  I hope his colleagues in the House never take him up on the offer of a ride to lunch!  Oh, and Mr. Gaetz keeps some really respectable company, too!  Take a look …

Gaetz-Stone

It’s gonna be a fun two years, folks.  Better buckle those seat belts for part two of the Voyage of the Trumptanic.
