Threats of Civil War and Accusations Of Treason: Trump, His Reichsbishof, and Those Ready to Kill in his Name

Padre Steve hits on almost any topic, from sports to history to politics to human nature. Today, he shares a few thoughts on the current U.S. political landscape that I think are worth sharing. Thank you, Padre, for this thoughtful post.

Friends Of Padre Steve’s World,

Just a couple of thoughts tonight. We celebrated Judy’s Birthday with our friends in Germany and even made a trip over the border to France where we got her birthday cake. But I digress…

Tonight I am very concerned about what President Trump and some of his leading supporters, especially his Reichsbishof , Pastor Robert Jeffress, of First Baptist Church Dallas threatened that if he were impeached that it would bring about a civil war. During his Twitter tirade the President accused the Congressman Adam Schiff, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee of Treason.

First, the whole concept of Treason when it comes to United States law and the Constitution, which set very tight limitations on what can be charged as treason.

In fact it is spelled out in the Constitution:

“Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or…

Barataria - The work of Erik Hare

The United States is under attack.

It is not an attack with bombs or airplanes. No one has been killed and property has not been damaged. It is, however, an attack on the most valuable thing that we have, something over a million people have gladly given their lives in the past to protect – our democracy.

This is a highly coordinated and sustained attack by a foreign power. It is still ongoing, and appears to have gradually grown more sophisticated over a period of years. There is reason to believe that will continue unless it is stopped.

Denial of this attack and the perpetrators who we certainly know are carrying it out, Vladimir Putin’s Russia, is hindering our response to this attack and making our democracy more vulnerable. That this effort to thwart our defenses and distract the public’s attention away from the threat comes from the very top…

TREASON!

I just love starting Monday in a haze of white-hot fury.  The Washington Post headline reads:

Putin Again Denies Russian Interference in the 2016 U.S. Election; Trump Calls Probe a ‘Disaster for Our Country’

It comes as no surprise that Putin denies interference … nobody with half a brain thought he would admit it, but no matter, for there is more than ample hard fact-based evidence that he did.  But for Trump to call the investigation a “disaster for our country”???  NO … NO NO NO NO NO!  The investigation is essential and the only thing that gives us hope we might get rid of the real disaster: Trump himself!  I am in a white hot fury over his asininity!

Putin:  … Russian state has never interfered and is not going to interfere in internal American affairs.

Trump:  There was no collusion. I didn’t know the president. There was nobody to collude with. There was no collusion with the campaign.bullshitNow what, exactly, do these two donkeys expect us to do at this point?  Do they expect that we will all say, “Oh, well, that solves it then.  Let’s stop the Mueller investigation and all other investigations and let Trump get on with his plan for mass destruction of the U.S.”

Somebody needs to take that ugly red tie and wrap it around his neck a few more times and pull tightly!

Trump:  Our relationship has never been worse than it is now. However, that changed, as of about four hours ago.

Why, Donnie?  What changed?  Did you offer him the keys to the Capitol and the White House?  Did you promise to change the name of the country to the United States of Russia?  And what did he offer you?  A lifetime sitting in the Oval Office with no need for another election ever?

Frankly, if this isn’t a wake-up call to both Congress and Trump’s supporters, then we know that they have all been lobotomized.

Trump:  I think the probe has been a disaster for our country. It’s ridiculous what’s going on with the probe.

Well-respected former Director of the CIA, John Brennan, had this to say:

“Donald Trump’s press conference performance in Helsinki rises to & exceeds the threshold of ‘high crimes & misdemeanors.’ It was nothing short of treasonous. Not only were Trump’s comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin. Republican Patriots: Where are you???”

I repeat that question:  Where are you???  Some republicans in Congress absolutely must wake up and step up to the plate, for now there can be no doubt … not a shred of doubt … that Donald Trump is Putin’s asset.  There can be no doubt that deals have been made for our country to blindly support Russia’s agenda, whatever that agenda may be.  I can only wonder, with Trump’s past Russian connections, how many years this plan has been in the making?

Trump:  Much of our news media is indeed the enemy of the people and all the Dems know how to do is resist and obstruct! This is why there is such hatred and dissension in our country — but at some point, it will heal!

The “hatred and dissension” in our country did not begin with Trump, but he has escalated it by a thousand percent, and continues to do so every time his fingers hit the keys on his twittering machine.  Donald Trump cannot heal the rift … the gulf … in this country, for he is the cause of it.  And no, folks, the media is NOT the enemy of the people … Donald Trump is the enemy of the people!  His state-media, Fox News is the enemy of the people, for they spread his lies and further widen the great divide.

I make no apologies, as I normally would, for this rant, for it is time We The People – all the people, including those who have been wearing blinders and earplugs for nearly 18 months now – wake up and see what is right under our very noses!  Donald Trump has no love for this country nor for its people.  He loves two things:  money and power.  And Vladimir Putin is promising him both.  Russia is not our friend and the free press is not our enemy.  There can no longer be any illusion that Trump can be reined in and eventually become the president of the people.  His goals are not ours.  The only solution, if we wish to continue as a relatively free nation, is to get Donald Trump out of the White House as quickly as possible.

A Dark Mood Worsened …

I awakened in a dark mood this morning, made even darker when I came downstairs, fired up the baby Dell, and sat down with my first cup of coffee of the day, only two read two news stories about the continuing saga of idiocy that defines the Oval Office these days …

Pomp and Circumstance Trump-Style

It was one of those “wtf” moments when I read that Trump wants the Pentagon to stage a military parade down Pennsylvania Avenue.  WHY???  Military parades are the tools of dictators and autocrats to show, not strength, but might. A power trip, nothing more, nothing less.  And at whose expense?  Take a wild guess.

Trump’s egomaniacal military parade is likely to cost this country millions of dollars.  A country that is already unable to pay its debt, a country with no universal healthcare, with an education system going down the tubes, a country that has negated climate-change regulation, saying it was too expensive.  This is like the family who cannot afford to pay their rent buying a Mercedes!

parade.jpgAdolph Hitler was quite fond of his military parades, for they proved to the people that he was all-powerful.  They instilled fear, not pride. Donald Trump continues to model himself after the autocrats, past and present, and then wonders why he is the most unpopular president in modern history.

According to an article in NPR …

“U.S. presidents have long shied away from such displays of military prowess — which typically include tanks, missiles and, in some cases, goose-stepping soldiers — for fear of being compared to Washington’s Cold War adversaries, where such displays have traditionally been potent symbols of state power. Those countries include Russia (and, formerly, the Soviet Union), China and North Korea.”

Members of Congress seem divided on the idea, with some in support and some against.  My take?  It is a tacky display of imperialism and if Trump insists on it, let him pay for it out of his own pocket.

Of Treason and Traitors

When Trump gave his ‘State of the Union Address’ last week, Democrats in Congress did not clap, did not give him the standing ovations that the Republicans did, and he was offended.  I did not clap either … there was nothing to clap about.  He used the time to pat himself on the back, to inflate his “accomplishments” and to generally be the jerk that he always is.

So earlier this week, Trump, once again on the campaign trail, it would seem, visited a facility outside of Cincinnati.  It was here that he said …

“They were like death and un-American. Un-American. Somebody said, ‘treasonous.’ I mean, Yeah, I guess why not? Can we call that treason? Why not? I mean they certainly didn’t seem to love our country that much.”

Merriam-Webster defines ‘treason’ as:

“The offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign’s family.”

treasonTreason applies better to a president who minimizes and denigrates clear evidence that a foreign power meddled in an American election — and makes no real effort to prevent that from happening again — than it does to a bunch of lawmakers who decline to salute him.

I’m certain that if he ever … ever … says or does anything that can be viewed as in the best interest of the people of this nation, the Democrats in Congress will applaud him.  I’m not holding my breath for that day to come.

Treason: It’s a word that he has used before, to characterize an F.B.I. agent whose text messages made his distaste for Trump clear. In the narcissistic mind of Donald Trump, any who do not pledge fealty to him are traitors guilty of treason.  Now I ask you, dear readers, does this sound llike the president of a democratic nation, or like the autocratic ruler of a kingdom?

rooseveltIn May, 1918, former President Theodore Roosevelt wrote the following:

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but it is treasonable to the American public.”

Point made.  I rest my case.  Carry on.

Hell Hath No Fury Like A Scorned Trump

Next Tuesday, January 9th, a new book hits the shelves.  Its title is: Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, and it was written by Michael Wolff, a veteran journalist who has written for Vanity Fair, the Guardian, the Hollywood Reporter and other publications.  While it is not the first book to be written about Trump, it is the first that is not written by a Trump sycophant. If you wish a preview, NY Magazine published an excerpt that is well worth the read.

Fire and FuryOne segment stands out above the rest in terms of drawing Trump’s immediate ire. It is a comment made by Steve Bannon in response to the meeting between Donald Trump, Jr., Jared Kushner and several Russians in June 2016:

“The chance that Don Jr. did not walk these jumos up to his father’s office on the twenty-sixth floor is zero,” said an astonished and derisive [Stephen K.] Bannon, not long after the meeting was revealed. “The three senior guys in the campaign,” an incredulous Bannon went on, “thought it was a good idea to meet with a foreign government inside Trump Tower in the conference room on the twenty-fifth floor — with no lawyers. They didn’t have any lawyers. Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad s–t, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately.”

It took Trump very little time to hit back … his written statement, read by Sarah Huckabee Sanders, was as follows:

“Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind. Steve was a staffer who worked for me after I had already won the nomination by defeating seventeen candidates, often described as the most talented field ever assembled in the Republican party.

Now that he is on his own, Steve is learning that winning isn’t as easy as I make it look. Steve had very little to do with our historic victory, which was delivered by the forgotten men and women of this country. Yet Steve had everything to do with the loss of a Senate seat in Alabama held for more than thirty years by Republicans. Steve doesn’t represent my base—he’s only in it for himself.

Steve pretends to be at war with the media, which he calls the opposition party, yet he spent his time at the White House leaking false information to the media to make himself seem far more important than he was. It is the only thing he does well. Steve was rarely in a one-on-one meeting with me and only pretends to have had influence to fool a few people with no access and no clue, whom he helped write phony books.

We have many great Republican members of Congress and candidates who are very supportive of the Make America Great Again agenda. Like me, they love the United States of America and are helping to finally take our country back and build it up, rather than simply seeking to burn it all down.”

Since none of the book seems to paint Trump in a favourable light, I am guessing we’ll hear more of these ‘statements’ in the coming week.  There are so many falsehoods in the above statement, so many incidents of him patting himself on the back, that I won’t even pick it apart, but you don’t need me to anyway, for you are all savvy enough to know the dung when you see it.  And now, the ball is back in Bannon’s court … I am going to guess he’ll lob it back before long.  Stay tuned …

Former US Top Spy Calls President A Russian Asset/ Mueller’s Possession Of Trump’s Emails

With so many facets to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Trump/Russian ties, interference in our election last year, and collusion with Russia by Trump & Co., it is nearly impossible to keep up. Our friend Gronda, however, has done a great job in bringing us up to date on the latest, and I couldn’t have said it better than she, so please take a few minutes to read her excellent post. Thank you, Gronda, for all your research and hard work … this is excellent information!

Gronda Morin

It has been my hypothesis that the republican President Donald J. Trump has indeed been a Russian asset before he ever set foot in the White House. The reason that the FBI’S Special Counsel Robert Mueller III has been delving into the president’s past financial history, is that his financial holdings have been inextricably intertwined with Russian financing for decades so that his business could thrive during some financially troubling times. Because the president had a history of filing for bankruptcies in the early 1990s, he had trouble garnering the financing he required through US banking institutions for his numerous projects, but it was Russian monies that came to his rescue.

Being beholden to Russian financing to where there is outstanding debt is similar to being beholden to the Mafia for loans. They both expect a return on their investment. This is the crux of the probe which helps in…

Breaking News: President Shared Classified Data With Russians

Last Wednesday Trump met with top Russian officials in the Oval Office. The Russian press was allowed in, the U.S. press was barred. This was noteworthy in and of itself, but in light of today’s news, it is more than highly suspect. Trump gave away highly classified information to the Russians on that day. Gronda, as I knew she would be, was on top of the story when it broke this afternoon in the Washington Post, and her post sums up everything we know to this point. This is too important to let slide by, so please take a few moments to read Gronda’s excellent post. I am sure she will update us as more information becomes available. Thank you for your excellent work, Gronda!

LAVROV/ TRUMP/ KISLYAK/ TASS WAS PRESENT/ IF ANYTHING UNTOWARD WAS SAID, RUSSIA HAS A TAPE RECORDING

The republican President Donald Trump seems to be on the downward roller coaster ride of self-destruction and the ride hasn’t ended yet.

Remember all the fuss republicans raised about the democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton having possibly placed classified data at risk while she was Secretary of State (2009- 2013) because she had used a private server to transmit and receive work product emails. Her intent to do this was never proven because as per the state department’s protocol, any classified data was supposed to have already been separated out to be used via other secured systems. As audits have proven in the past, a certain percentage of the data that Hillary Clinton worked on with via her private server would be retroactively marked classified and in this case, 3 pieces slipped through which had…
